Tom Croft out for 5 weeks with knee injury:
    http://www.skysports.com/rugbyunion/match_reaction/0,20244,11069_38251_1,00.html

Leicester head coach Richard Cockerill has revealed that Lions flanker Tom Croft will be sidelined for five weeks after sustaining a knee injury.

Croft was helped off the field after 27 minutes during the Tigers' 47-8 victory over Viadana having damaged his medial ligaments, and the injury could jeopardise his involvement in the RBS Six Nations tournament.

Dwayne Peel should be available for the Scotland fixture on 13 February.

Scrum-halves Mike Phillips and Dwayne Peel have been left out of Wales' 35-man Six Nations squad.
The duo are injured but a scan on Peel's groin showed he should be fit by the Scotland match on 13 February.

Don't know if there is much in it but my sisters saw Donners on crutches after the Saints match. ROG's leg also seemed to be heavily strapped.

Ali WIlliams out for entire season after rupturing his Achilles in a warm up game. Missed most of last season with a similar injury.

That's a massive loss for the ABs.

Gutted for Ali, just came back from a long term injury, think it was Achilles too.

Thom Evans - out for the season.

Chris Paterson - out for 10 weeks.

Rory Lamont - out for the Six Nations (at least).

Big blow for Scotland, to lose 3 players and in similar positions.

Ospreys and Wales prop Duncan Jones has suffered a setback in his recovery from a right foot injury and will be out for about another six months.
Loose-head Jones picked up the injury in a December league win over Munster, and after coming out of plaster it was decided that he needed more surgery.

Very unlucky for Jones, he was just back from another long-term injury.

I broke my finger yesterday, I should probably let the press know I'm out for the rest of the 6N just in case.

  • Registered Users Posts: 720 ✭✭✭muggyog

    Evans lucky

"Thom had sustained slippage to one of the vertebrae and that required to be eased back into place".

"The surgeons are pleased with his progress, Thom has movement in his arms and legs and his family have been to visit him today, as have a number of his Glasgow Warriors team-mates."

Could you not just tape it up? Like, if they did call you up, it would be a shame to waste the opportunity.

Saracens prop Carlos Nieto suffered a fractured fibula, a dislocated ankle and ruptured ankle ligaments during Saturday's Guinness Premiership clash with Worcester at Wembley - almost certainly ruling him out for the rest of the season.

    That's insane.

Alun Wyn Jones looks is to miss the rest of the Six Nations as the Wales lock is to undergo elbow surgery.

The 24-year-old chipped a bone in his left elbow and damaged ligaments tackling Sean Lamont in Wales' bruising 31-24 win over Scotland in Cardiff.

The British and Irish Lions star is set for up to 12 weeks out and is expected to miss the Ospreys' Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with Biarritz.

What a massive blow for Wales.

Maybe its just because this thread is highlighting them all, but it seems to me that there is a lot more injuries this season than there used to be.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 14,166 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zzippy

Whats insane about it? Not actually that bad or uncommon - have seen it myself a couple of times. Small operation, pins in the bone, back playing in 6 months.

What a massive blow for Wales.

He's been very poor all season in my opinion. He was lucky to hold on to his place, and probably wouldn't have if he didn't have age on his side.

Its a shame that it was an injury that eventually forced him out of the team.
