Am I'm misreading something because I checked the amazon and play.com links and they both said 5th of November, wasn't that the release date anyway?

Its all getting a bit annoying now, we have a few sites saying it will be delayed in their country and no one from Sony or Polyphony has officially announced anything, if its delayed due to problems with the game then so be it, but if they seem to be delaying it for any other reason, like potential Christmas sales or not putting it up against Call of Duty Black Ops then its a bit of a joke IMO.

Either way id like to know when I can play GT5.

Retailers are starting to change the release date to Nov 26th

Looks like the delay is for real alright...

    * Shakes head.

On the plus side, I now have 2 paydays between now and the release date, October 26th and November 26th. So on release day if the release day is confirmed for the 26th November, I will ahve a wheel. Only positive I can take from this.

I really wish there was some way to show my disgust at Sony/Polyphony. Id love to be able to say im not going to buy this game due to the delays etc etc...

But i have recently invested in a Driving Force GT and tbh even if its delayed for 2yrs more id still buy it in 2 yrs.
But god dammit it better be worth the fecking wait.

    Gran Turismo 5 Release Update

Posted by Taku Imasaki // Producer, SCEA

We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.

We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

We’ll have more information for you in the near future.

Well if it's to maximise profit, releasing it after Christmas would be completely counter-productive so it'll be out before I'd say. They'll want it out by the end of November in the US at the very least because any later than that and people will have a lot of their Christmas shopping done already with the sales after Thanksgiving.

This is a fucking joke at this stage! Are they just doing this to piss off?!

Its to take advantage of the X-Mas sales of PS3's, Bundels, and copies of the game.

Good marketing but bad for the fans of the game. If they came out a few months ago and said it would be a X-Mas 2010 release there would be no problem and I would understand it, but delaying it now to maximise profits, and thats what it looks like they are doing, is a joke. Shame on Sony/Polyphony, but they know no matter what, we will buy the game as we have waited this long.

It will be out when it's ready, it only a couple of weeks FFS. we have waited 5 years what's another few weeks.

I think the game doesn't actually exist. The release will keep being being pushed back until April 1st next year where it will be revealed as the biggest April fools prank of all time, leading to a mass suicide by hardcore GT fans

The latest is that Sony will try to confirm a new release date before the end of the month.

Do you realise how many times we've said that over the past five years?

I know it a pain in the hole, but as far as I know the November release date was the only official release date given, so it's the "first real" delay.

I am not surprised. They can tell me it is in fact coming out in two weeks time and I will not believe them until the disc is in my Playstation 3. They can delay all they want because they know it will outsell anything else released at the same time. If the delay is to maximise profits then shame on Sony.

No it's not. A quick browse through PlayStation Blog's archives will reveal numerous delays. The fact of the matter is we have every right to be pissed off that a game announced when the PS2 was still booming is still not here in 2010 and it's a downright joke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,499 ✭✭✭M00lers

I well aware of all the delays but there was never an official release date.

Just because there was never an official release date doesn't mean they weren't official delays. We were given numerous release timeframes, though, and as far as I'm concerned they weren't met and we're still waiting. It leaves me to speculate whether this game will be released before Crimbo.

At least they seem to be trying to get it right, rather than releasing a farcical bug fest like Codemasters did with F1 2010!
