I have just posted my opinion accidentally on this matter in the new thread.

TBH; I was nearly going to ask for my thread to be locked last night after the Labour / FG decision.

    Just a little feedback.

I don't think people should post others information on boards (ie: a screenshot of a person's social networking page). I know most people know eachother and all, but there should be some boundaries, that being one of them..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,014 ✭✭✭Colm!

Even if a link to said person's social networking page was posted by the user a few pages back in the same thread?

Maybe, Noel, if you and others kept your Twitter pages to yourselves instead of spamming the forum with them, then this wouldn't happen.

Well I am entitled to post my own page aren't I? I don't go around posting other peoples pages on here.

If you put your page into this domain (i.e. the C&H forum) in the first place, then you can't really complain if others make reference to it here.

Clearly I can when not everyone can see my tweets.. I've a request to view profile.

Everyone has the right to anonymity here. I chose to respect my right by not posting a picture of myself in the Know your fellow *insert description thingy* thread etc.

I have twitter but I don't make it known here I have twitter. The problem Noel is that you and a few others keep posting and going about each others twitter and in turn you are basically waving your right to anonymity away.

So if I add someone from here on Facebook, I've given my anonymity away. Therefore, they now have the right to print screen my page and show it here to everyone else?

    Confused, I am.

Adding someone from here is not giving your anonymity away. The fact with twitter is you always keep talking about it.

If you don't want this stuff to happen again. Then DON'T consistently mention Twitter, Facebook or other social media.

I've mentioned it once. Unless the definition of consistently has been changed in the dictionary, then it appears your theory is flawed.

I don't think an isolated incident even warrants forum-wide feedback anyway. Stop being such a drama llama.

I am not going to get into an agrument about this but most of the posters know that first sentence is untrue.

I am going refrain from posting in this thread for the time being until one of the mods of here have given feedback on this issue.

Oh dear, Noel, you really don't get it. The Jizzlers thing should never have been a problem. I posted my dissatisfaction in the appropriate place. You know, the Jizzlers DISCUSSION Thread. Someone reported my post. I still don't know why they thought they needed to do that. Ginja Ninja moved the discussion here. He was a very new mod at the time, so you can't really blame him for mistakes like that. And once the posts were moved over here, you used the chance to stick up for your buddies. They had done a great job on the Jizzlers, don't get me wrong. But, for whatever reason, you turned my mole-hill piece of criticism into a mountain.

Calling me a hypocrite because you don't know how to deal with irony is just childish.

I'm pretty sure it's not part of your mod duties of Midwest to look at reported posts in C&H and to post about who reported them. As far as I know, that's something for the mods of this forum to deal with, and I'm also pretty certain that they're not supposed to disclose who reported the post.

Oh STFU the lot of ye!! :p:D

The point is valid: if the facebook / twitter / whatever is on private, the fact that the thing has been mentioned or linked isn't the same as giving permission for a screenshot to be posted publicly.

That said, I doubt if any harm was intended, nor can I see how much real harm was done.

I know the forum name mentions hormones, but does every little thing have to become a dick-measuring contest?! :pac:

(Coz I'll always win, anyway!)

All reported posts go to one forum, and all mods can read them. Stop moving the goalposts. You were wrong to label me a hypocrite. At least admit to that instead of trying to change the focus of the discussion.

Oh Randy, your wisdom is greater than anyone's I have ever come across! :P

I only intended to get it out there like that, it's not really fair to post my stuff on the page, you know?

I don't want to add more fuel to this drama, but really naming and shaming someone for reporting a post is not good form. Especially when it's isn't even relevant to the current argument.

Noel brought it up. I've edited my post. Noel will have to edit the quote to keep ye all happy.

While it's true that Noel had posted up his twitter page only a few days prior, I really think permission should be gotten if you're posting up something that may lean towards identifying a person, especially as it contained his full name!

You'd be surprised how easy it is to find things out about people from what they post on boards, though! :o

    (/stalker)

Edit: Sorry I had this tab open and left the computer over an hour ago. There has been about 10 new posts about this since I posted this
Edit 2: No wait, I figured out why. I didn't realise there was a 17th page to this thread! Sorry :o

Yeah, but the fact that you did post your twitter page, which is public (I sign out from twitter and all of your posts including your full name are still visible), on the previous page of the thread clearly shows that it isn't some invasion of privacy when I post what was basically my twitter homepage this morning.

If you didn't want your twitter page to be visible, then why did you post it?

What's the difference? It's obviously ok for me to post my stuff, but it's also clearly not ok for you to post it.

Noel: Will you stop trying to think you are in the right here. You are wrong, your right to anonymity wasn't breached because you gave a direct link to your own twitter page.

If you didn't, you right would have been breached.

Will you ever just be quiet? You'd swear you were the mod of C&H or something. Jesus like you never even post here but the minute feedback opens your in here saying something. .
