Insect Overlord

So, technically I should have posted this yesterday, but 24 hours isn't too much of a delay

The Clearasil and Hormones forum is one year old now, having been approved and founded on the 8th of December 2008.
The process involved in getting it set up can be seen here: "Approved"
As you can see, it took us almost 9 months to have our wish granted, with The Dazzler, KnifeWRENCH, JC_2K3 and other such notable individuals championing the cause.

12 months on, we're still going strong. There's a huge variety in the topics of discussion (so much so that they often end up over-lapping into a load of threads where they don't belong! ) and easily one of the most positive atmospheres of any forum on the site. Our user-base is, as was expected, not confined solely to teenagers and "kids", and even I'm still hanging around here some months after turning 21.

What does this all mean? Who knows. Maybe a lot, maybe very little. Whatever the case, Happy Birthday forum, and I hope everyone who lurks, reads and posts here continues to get something out of it. Long may it continue!

(I'll keep this thread stickied for a few days, and anyone who wishes to provide feedback can do so here. Keep all suggestions as appropriate as possible, and the usual rules apply)

EDIT: Wow, that approved thread really shows the pre-conceptions people have about teens.

True that. This is why I love this forum, it's got such a good atmosphere. Really welcoming, and not too serious. It's nice and teenager-y

Reading that C&H proposal thread has made me question my teenager credentials, I haven't used C&H for text-speak, to discuss nail polish in all the colours of the rainbow or for bullying people. Loser.

Reading through that proposal thread,and seeing some of the opposition expressed in it, I wanna say thanks to everyone who pushed for the approval of the forum.

Seriously though? I don't see any issues with how the place is run at the moment. Perhaps one small thing is when 2 people have a very specific conversation for more than 8 posts, it kills a thread and is annoying to read. I'm not going to point one out, but it happens, and I feel that sort of thing should be in PM

That's something that's been brought up before. Thankfully I don't notice it happening too often but the mods are aware of this potential problem and will act on it if it gets out of hand.

Yeah, a simple "take it to PM" would suffice (even though I suspect I might be guilty of this once...but I don't recall an instance at the moment)

I think we all have a "If it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude. There seems to be a perfect sync in C&H...the argghhhh, the yaaaaah, the moosik, the mid-way chat, the movies.

I don't really mind that though, I like the fact I can pick up where a left off with a lot of the threads in C&H...

I was talking to a boardsie just there about a "know your teen thread". Ya know, to put faces to usernames and the likes.
But then again, I was just thinking if the mods would want that in C&H, ya know..

KnifeWRENCH and I discussed this idea a while back. Both of us were in favour of it, in theory, but it would have to be watched pretty closely. We'd also need posters to post sensibly and responsibly. I think that if such conditions could be met, such a thread would work. But it would need a much cooler nname than "know your teens" :cool:

Yeah, I almost started a "Know Your Hormonal Moodbags" thread a while back before realising that maybe it would be frowned upon. I'd still have reservations about the idea...
