Another bogey on 16th. A par 3 and par 5 to go. If he picks up one shot, it will have been some week.

    Might help encourage intelligent contributions?

Ok, would you like to start then?

Needs a birdie on either of last 2 for guaranteed top 20 finish which is nothing to be sniffed at no matter how disappointing it may have been today

Does anyone know about the criteria for Shane getting his PGA tour card? I heard the commentators say at the beginning of the week that with the money from last week and a strong finish this week, that he would be on track to secure his card before the summer. Is there a specific monetary target?

Quite a few ways to earn a card but I suppose the main ones for Shane would be
    1. Win on tour
    2. Finish in the top 125 in the money list.

125th won just over $700k last year.
Shane won $190k last week and is probably in line for a fairly decent cheque this week too. He'll probably be a third of the way there now.

Cheers Parlance - that's definitely achievable alright. Hopefully him concentrating his efforts on the other side of the Atlantic will pay off.

Birdie on the 18th so he's tied 21st right now - another damned good week for Shane. Great to have someone to cheer for!

He'll probably pick up a cheque in the region of $60k this week so well on the way.

Well deserved. He's going very well now and it is great for us fans here on boards to have someone to root for.

He can only get a certain number of invites and in that 6 or 7 events must make more than what the 125th on money list made if he does he gets his card

Two great tournaments so far, very very encouraging. Hopefully Shane keeps it up and has a great run at Agusta. Every cut is more experience for him.

Another good showing in the Masters or his upcoming events would be great for us too. He should be getting close to the TV producers radars now. One more good weekend and it could mean a lot more airtime.

Solid week. We didn't see enough to be able to assess his performance today - I don't know if he was lipping out birdies or scrambling brilliantly for par. It wasn't a great score in those benign conditions but it is encouraging to see that he is comfortable in that sort of company.

A US card is well within his capability and I think it would do him a world of good to be in that environment for a while. It remains to be seen if he has the ambition to outweigh his stated fondness for familiar comforts but we won't know his full golfing potential until it does.

Very good week from Shane. If he is looking for a PGA card, he should be well on his way. It's been a very impresive two weeks.

He also has the Majors, the WGC events (and I also think that the BMW at Wentworth) can count to get there.

Plus I forgot the HSBC Champions event (WGC event) last Nov that goes towards this season. He picks up $65k there.

So that'll have him at over $300k of the $700k already. He shouldn't struggle too much with invites after these past 2 weeks.

He'll remain at 40 in the world rankings after this week, a pity because a Top 20 finish would have seen him sneak inside the top 40.

According to this article in the Irish Times last week, Lowry must make more than $713,377 to secure a tour card. That was the amount made by the player who finished 125th in the money list last season. He can have a maximum of 8 invites.

Where does it say maximum of 8 invites? Thought he could more than that

    +1

I'd say he'll appeal to the American public too, looks more your average guy you'd meet in the pub than most of the preened college guys arriving on the scene.

It says it in the article I linked to.

Well, he would have the 8 invites, but then he would also have the WGC events and the Majors. So really, he could play in up to 16 Qualifying competitions to try and secure his card ?

$253,623 earned so far which would be 98th on the money list.

I don't think that includes yesterday's earnings. He won ~190k in the farmers and ~65k in the HSBC.

World rankings updated now and he managed to go from 40 to 39.

Is that official ? Just checked on www.owgr.com and he's still 40th.

    0.0002 behind Lahiri

Showing some good form and the PGA tour is where it's at now. The European Tour is a long way behind. It would be great to see him get a top 20 in a major.

PGA says $253,623 from 3 events unless maybe the HSBC doesn't count towards his earnings because he wasn't an affiliate/associate member at the time???

ESPN has him in 81st place $318,623 earned.

Still showing as 40th on OWGR site?
