My picks for cards......Roope Kakko, Stephan Gross, Sam Hutsby and Big Niall.

From seeing these lads up close in amateur golf. All stand out big time

Gorfield, you might have an opinion on this. Played with a pal of Nialls who knows his game really well last week, who thinks he might struggle with length off the tee compared to most of the pro's on tour.

Not something I've ever noticed but you've probably played with him a bit?

I played foursomes in interpros with Niall and from my perspective i think hel be fine. Hes probably longer than Shane is and hes doing fine.....The one thing i like about Niall is his ball flight is very consistent, this is huge on tour due to the generally good conditions they play in.

Interesting, the one thing I've noticed anytime I've seen him play is that he's a fantastic putter. No matter where he is on a green he looks like he'll hole it.

Pity about johnny caldwell being back here i taught when he got his card ast year he would push on.Maybe this time.

Could someone please explain the running Coltard gig. It might be funny but as someone who hasn't a clue what it's about its rather tiresome at this stage.

Basically Mister Sifter is Scottish and supports his own. However, every time Coltart got going and his name was mentioned by Mister Sifter (or Licksy for that matter) his game turned to ****e.

He then became nicknamed by anything and everything so he wasn't jinxed. All to no avail unfortunately!

Yeah we'll often follow the progress of the Irish (and other notables) in the "weekly Irishman in contention" thread... As soon as you post that Murphy, Monty, Coltart etc. are going well, -2 through 12 and t12 the next thing you know they've collapsed into a heap and missed the cut.
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=58240916&postcount=1

Mister Sifter gets a bit sensitive if you hex Coltart so we have to be careful not to mention him until Tuesday Thursday evening...

We're a sensitive bunch us Scots!! Now, let there be no more talk of groundskeeper willie until this tour school nonsense is done and dusted!

Mister Sifter, I really hope that Andrew Coltart make it through. I met him at Druid's Glen a few years ago and he was so accomodating when I wanted to photograph him with my son. Lovely guy. Which is more than I could say about another golfing compatriot of yours who has been known to turn milk sour just by looking at it.

Maybe caused by licking too many nettles! :D

The stadium course appears to be playing more difficult than the Tour course which is 6577 yards, a bit short for a the pro’s I thought…

    T7 Moriarty -5 (Tour)
    T29 Murphy -3 (Stadium)
    T29 Thornton -3 (Tour)
    T83 Kearney PAR (Stadium)
    T119 Kelly +2 (Tour)

    T101 Darren Fletcher! +1 (Tour)

-10 best of the day on the Tour and -5 on the Stadium

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

Was just looking at that... 31 out of the top 82 played on the stadium...
16 out of the top 44
10 out of the top 28
3 out of the top 14

Earlier in the day it had Murphy as being 1 under par but since then his score has been amended - a 'bogey' on 9 was changed into a birdie... happy days!

yep, only john kelly on the back foot, +2 on the 'easier' tour course. murphy seems to have made a really good start on the stadium course , 69, 3 off the lead held by jarmo sandelin. hopeful for gary that his putting holds up for the weekend & that the rest of the irish can do likewise.

the 'bagpiper' has ground to make up too, +1 on the tour course.

That was a double bogey for murphy on the 507 yard par 4 5th hole of the Tour course.

Great to see him up there in 7th... Kearney moving up nicely too... solid. The rest of the Irish were in reverse today unfortunately.
Weather is to be breezy and cold tomorrow... wonder if the tee times/pairings for R3 remain the same as R1 & R2 or do they go out in order of standing at this stage?

I presume there is a cut at some point this week? Is it after round 4? Know the top 30 plus ties get cards

Cut after 4 rounds (2 rounds on each course). Top 70 plus ties go on to play 2 more rounds. Top 30 plus ties get cards.

Caldwell is putting in a performance today on the Stadium course after the dissappointment he had there yesterday.
-5 thru 12 today and back up to 45th on -3 overall.
    Was 96th after his +5 77 yesterday.
Hopefully he'll play the next couple of holes a little better than last time round :)

great round by niall. He has impressed me with his scoring the last couple of weeks. He never shot ridiculosly low numbers like 66 etc in amatuer days.Hope he keeps it up.To think he just got thru as last place in PQ1.

Looks like Gary Murphy Simon Thornton and Maybe Johnnie Caldwell to get into top 70th

He's finished on -5. His bogey on 18 (his 9th) has been changed to a birdie! Good fighting from him today with a -4 bogey-free round.

Still got it all to do on final two days though.
