Heard on the news this morning that there will soon be only 1 priest per parish in Ireland. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/frontpage/2009/1116/1224258922173.html I was wondering from a practical point of view what will this mean, and what will it mean if the rate drops below 1. God will never leave His people unfed.

As for this; we tried this here in Laghey Barr; running a Church ourselves.

Did it so successfully that the local priest got it stopped.

It was a vibrant community Church.. self-funded also.

Until the "old guard" is gone, there will be no real change.

Less great, but perhaps these thoughts from the faithful will encourage the church leaders to share the reasoning behind all these rules. The spirit of the law has been completely obscured in the Catholic church in many areas and we're left with rules that few of the faithful can justify.
