We have the bitch thread and it's popularity of recent times is unnerving, you'd swear UL was a desperate place to be :P

So lets have a complete opposite thread - what made you smile today or made your day? Looking forward to anything in particular?

Me = Xmas Daze, cannot wait! :D

This thread is a very good idea imo..

I know that I started the daily bitch thread as I was having a particularly poor day, but UL is a fantastic place to be, and most days do not involve awful things!

So, I'm glad that the Stables is open again on Sunday nights!! I was able to go out tonight for a few quiet pints and be home at 11:20pm also..

I missed my Sunday night pints!

The pints of Guinness in Stables and Scholars, for some reason when I started UL this September I thought that being student pubs the pints would be rank, but they're pretty decent to be honest.

Bumping into people you haven't seen since primary or Junior Cert around the place is great. I met an old friend today on the bus into town, hadn't spoken in ages to him.

Apart from my rant on the other thread just now, I had quite a good day!

I love the full-brekkie in the Paddocks..€5.80 for it, with tea and toast...superb stuff, all nice and fresh about 9am this morning...started my day so well :)

Then got feedback from a lecturer about a HR interview I conducted last week, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well I did, as I really was looking at getting a D-grade in that module, now I'm possibly looking at a C-grade of sorts :)

Also, the KBS is so nice and warm in comparison to my house...Its comforting [kinda] to be in there all day..

That warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you hand in an assignment you're happy with or do a decent presentation.

I realise that the feeling isn't specifically a UL one, but I think the whole place looks brighter afterwards. It wouldn't be the same on any other campus!

The chocolate stall is great. I go every Tuesday now, without fail. My usual is the Raspberry Square, but I tried Mint Caramel today; lovely.

One essay done, and a day in advance too! :)

*Now to the other 2 essays and presentation to be done

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,219 ✭✭✭Mossin

This must be my most productive day ever!

Second essay practically finished with just under 4,500 words written! [I had written just over 1,500 before today]...
But still, 2 essays down 1 essay to go! :)

I kinda wish I had Xmas Daze tickets now...but no!! I still have a third 5,000 essay to do, and a presentation to prepare for...

Since I just posted in the 'bitch' thread and I don't want to act all negative:
I did better on my Public Admin essay that I had anticipated. :D

I finished the most painful essay I have ever had to do!!!! Whoooo! I may fail the essay (no sense of false modesty intended) BUT it's bloody well done!! *dance*

Like I said the Official Bitching Thread, I spent yesterday in UCC.

Now UCC is incredibly pretty and you don't have far to walk to get anywhere and they've a Bagel Bar, Quiznos Subs and Apache Pizza on campus and their lecture halls are great etc... etc...

But the place definitely lacks a certain buzz and the people are definitely not as friendly.
Thus it makes me feel so grateful I go to UL. :D
Wouldn't change it for the world despite the fact that UCC would have been an easier choice.

Just got another "A" grade in the marketing module for my masters!

I'm a little surprised by it too, but now I have the module passed before sitting the final exam which eases the pressure quite a bit :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,991 ✭✭✭metamorphosis

Even though i am not looking foward to final year xmas exams, i did ace my exams on the weekend course that im also doing, and on last friday handed in a 50% assignment that had been a cnut to deal with and im somewhat optimistic about my 12:30 exam - ireland and the world economy as although i have not done a whole lotta study for it - my topics i did glance over a re garunteed to come up. Will have to do a lot of study for health sociology in a while though :(

Ooh....good at maths then, and physics.

    What are your other choices?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 48 Bigrob

cant get enough of the maths and physics......!!
i actually have cad engineering in ul down second followed by engineering ucd and physics ucd!
i'll be so delighted if i got ul, judging by what people write on boards and such it sounds like the place to be!!

    thanks for the tip ryanf1!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,366 ✭✭✭ninty9er

You'll do very well if you enjoy maths and physics. I know a few people who've done it/are doing it and they seem to enjoy it. There's a trip to Spain involved at some point too AFAIK.

UL is an excellent experience. If you have any questions about student life, post here, or any specific queries you can email one of us in the Union.

Alright thanks guys! Hopefully see you next September!

Waking up at 9am on a Monday and realising that you dont have any college on Mondays! Then turning over, and not getting up until noon :)

Then spending an hour catching up on an assignment, and suddenly all appears a little rosier in the garden!
