My post just came with nothing either way from AC, so I'd assume only offers will be arriving today, rejection letters will probably come tomorrow. On the day of my first exam. Its gonna be a good day.:(

This is going to sound ****ty but it's not meant to be - it's for you to note for applications/interview etc.

There is different to their. You needed to use 'their' there. : )

That will KILL you if you have to write anything or if you get into a firm - I have seen people make those mistakes and they are crucified.

Aside from that I found Fry's interview to be lovely - you can lead the questioning with most partners from what I've heard and you can end up discussing your commercial awareness bit quite naturally without being asked. Good luck!

But do you know what would be worse?
The use of :-), capital letters (KILL) and bad language.
But as you are posting on a forum and not drafting a letter, you know what, we'll let you away with it.

Was just trying to help him!

Good luck to you in the interviews nonetheless. Thankfully I've had my big five place since finals. :)

I'm with Aprilsunshine on this one. Too often people misuse there/their....which probably adds to the filtering system when applications are being processed by firms. I'm not saying my grammar/spelling is perfect but misuse of there/their is too basic an error to be making in a law firm application.

He/she misused the word there/their in a post on this forum, it doesn't mean he/she did it on their application form! Jeez talk about being picky over someones post!

I'd fall into the camp of "write it right, no matter what context you find yourself in". Having said that I know many friends who are atrocious when writing a text (understandable due to limited characters) or using Facebook, but can then write quite properly when the occasion calls for it.

People are making a mountain out of a molehill - Aprilsunshine was just trying to help, and we don't know if posters write differently on here than, say, in exams. I'd put forward the argument that a habit is hard to change though and people do need to be careful of their (or is it there? :P ) grammar and spelling. In fact, our professor made the point today that people have handed in essays confusing "being" and "been". These things do make an impression. The problem is, quite often people will not care enough to point out to someone that they are misusing a word - and that person may be none the wiser that they are being (been) judged by others over such a small thing.

Not to say that my English is perfect either (far from it). But I do get bugged enough by bad English that I will go back and edit my posts if I find that I've made grammatical or spelling errors (I won't comment on others' though since it's a fine line between helpful advice and being a grammar nazi, too risky! :pac: )

Also, if you still have FE-1s to sit, they examiners tend to be very particular about spelling, grammar and punctuation.

While I would consider myself a bit of a grammar nazi, in these circumstances the warnings should be heeded as their/there/they're will not usually be picked up by a spell check!

I think we've all managed to find their website  What people including myself are asking is whether anyone has had an interview with the firm before and what kind of questions/format etc to expect!
