got this for a fiver off ebay ,people seemed to look for stupid money for them for some reason so I was happy enough with it .Theres a bit of surface damage (no cart cover) and its "untested" but these are usually pretty hardy , and most of its passthrough so hopefully it should work.

I'm surprised the CD32 lasted long enough on the market to warrant a hardware revision at all.
Must have a look at mine and see which one it is, I think it has the recessed logo and the hinge lip at the back.
Must get a proper controller for mine, I have a nasty 3rd party one and I don't thing all is well, a MD pad just isn't the same.

Amiga CD32 was actually doing quite well and picking up steam, it was the best selling of the CD systems at the time. It was commodore going bankrupty that sunk it.

The cd drive seems much quieter on the new CD32 as well.

Manufacture date of the new one is Jan 1994 and the old one is Aug 1993.

looks like an import, they where banned from selling in the states at the time due to debt, supposedly some where available through the canadian border.

The CD32 was released in Canada and was planned for release in the United States. However, a deadline was reached for Commodore to pay a patent royalty to Cad Track for their use of their XOR patent.[3] A federal judge ordered an injunction against Commodore preventing them from importing anything into the United States.

Commodore declared bankruptcy shortly afterwards, and the CD32 was never officially sold in the United States.[3] However, imported models did come over the border from Canada, and many stores in the United States (primarily mail-order stores) imported units for domestic sale. During the long bankruptcy proceedings

Very nice machines. This is the 3.1 version with engraved logo while version 4.0 has printed the Commodore logo in white.
Small differences in the mainboard. Externally the Commodore letters to the right are engraved, crafted on the plastic chassis.

While newer machines had those letters printed with cheap paint.

I have fond memories of that yolk. My grandad came back from the UK with some games for my aunt years ago. Turns out they were Master System ones and she had a Megadrive (Rookie grandparent mistake!) so they bought a power base converter to play them.

Gave me a lend of it when I was riddled with chicken pox. So whenever I see a power base converter I always remember the smell of camomile lotion.

Actually thinking about it now, they're not so much fond memories as itchy ones.

    Hmm, interesting all right.

It looks like they did a bit of improving on the door hinge as well. It feels a lot stronger and hopefully wont break like most CD32's that have been used a it.

bizzarely enough I've always associated Wonderboy in monsterworld on the megadrive with chickenpox for a similar reason. I had it when I was 17 (once you're over 12 its like leprosy) and it was the height of summer.Even the smell of camomile makes me sick now.:(

My 2 hacked Xbox 360 pads(madcatz fightpads, not original pads as they are better for the mod for various reasons) arrived today from the US with the modifications I requested.

If only I had the bloody 6 button control panel for the candy I'd be sorted.

Bit of a wire mess but you get the idea:

Very nice on the pad hacks Steve, I like the the way the two of them are screwed together with the little blocks of wood - nice touch. Is that cab going to be a dedicated 360 cab or will you have to disconnect the jamma finger board when connecting to a pcb/mvs?

No, not a dedicated 360 cab. Probably more Hyperspin/Jamma than 360.

For the moment I will need to disconnect the board to switch back to MVS etc.
But i have a little plan and that's why the fingerboard. It may or may not work out but I'll see how it goes.

Worst case scenario it doesn't work and I can remove the finger board and put longer cables on the pads and just use it like a normal hacked pad or just get another set made up.

See the general retro forum :( I can't get the train to move and the funny squiggles language in the manual doesn't help!

Got a ton of stuff over the weekend at car boot sales in the UK; only had time to picture a few boxes of software (and C&C ), the rest of the stuff is in storage until I pick it up next week :D

LOVE Densha de Go! No idea how to play them but I love them regardless.

Today these cheeky pups arrived. :)

    1. 1000 Miles Great Rally 1 [JAMMA PCB]
Absolutely perfect condition. Not a speck of dust on it and has the steering wheel board/connection too (not that I'll ever use that). I now have the complete set!

    2. Atomic Bomberman [PC, PAL, CIB]
No idea if this is any good. The graphics look terrible but I'm hoping the Bomberman gameplay is still buried in there somewhere. One for my Bomberman collection.
