Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I played with a guy from Duffys circus once and there was a cheetah at the table, I bluffed him and then the lion started.

Thats not poker. That is looking for patterns in randomness. You might as well flip a coin to make your decision if you are going to play like that.

Hey pointbreak, do you coach? If you do or interested, drop me a pm. Thanks.

Well seen as Chris DeB is 61 today, his poker cheating lyrics should get a mention.

And then the Lord he called for one more card,
But he drew the diamond eight,
And the Devil said to the son of God,
"I believe you've got it straight,
So deal me one for the time has come
To see who'll be the king of this place,
But as he spoke, from beneath his cloak,
    He slipped another ace...

    Cheat IMO

Strictly speaking going south isnt cheating. It's considered unethical but isnt really cheating

I agree. If you "go south" playing table stakes you are cheating the other players.

Could someone please clarify whether 7/2 off always beats 2/7 off HU? I was informed at my friend's regular home game (I think he cheats sometimes) that where it appears to be a split pot the higher of the players first hole cards decides it.

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,661 ✭✭✭General Zod

How do you know which one is the first hole card?

He's either making up the rules like an adult in a Pokemon contest or he's incorrect in his knowledge.

I've never had any complaint whenever I've gone south. I'm usually a little drunk mind and it can be hard to breathe.
I suppose it's an ethical question whether going south is cheating, it depends on whether you meant it and knew the person beforehand.

Not strictly true, if both players have sooooooooooooted 7/2, 2/7 the criteria is to rate the suits alphabetically in reverse e.g. spades, hearts, diamonds & clubs. If only one player has them sooted he obviously wins. If neither then it's back to your rule of whoever had the first 7...............;)

Pokertracker is legal and you cant multitable without it. Every winning internet player who multitables uses tracker software.
How can it be legal?! Surely its cheating, using a software to win?!

Thanks for that but in my case neither of our hands were "sooted" (I thought "Suited" but whatever). He did mention the reverse alphabet suits rule didn't apply because each of us had a diamond so apparantly the highest card out first rule was invoked. I challenged this on the basis that I couldn't remeber which card in my hand I saw first so he pointed to the 2 on my left and said because I was left-handed the way I put the cards down proved that the 2 was my first card - so he won. Strange rule though.

well he does have a point because it is up to each player to protect their cards & you didn't even know which was the first card dealt

Theres no way any poker site would knowingly allow you use a software that lets you gain that sort of advantage, It might be legal, but no site would allow it. Letting you see what cards other people had after a hand, thats ridiculous, and cheating.

I use it on Pokerstars. They have ruled that it is legal because all it does is collect information and does not interfere with the game.
You can only see what cards people have after a hand if the hand is called down,,,,,,,,,, then you can see what the losing player mucked. All the main sites allow it. You can see that anyway from the hand history.
You could do the same thing it does by writing down all each of the players actions and building up a profile on them. Thats all it does.
But it is a huge advantage to have a record of how a player has played his last 200 or 300 hands broken down into calls, folds, raises, reraise etc.

Forgot to add this link. Read for yourself. There are dozens of software apps allowed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,135 ✭✭✭POINTBREAK

I've only used Pokertracker so I dont know what the rest of them are like, but I think most of them give a free trial. It can be a bit of a bollox to set up , but well worth the effort when you get used to it.
You can tell at a glance what sort of player you are up against by his 3 main stats which are displayed on the screen beside him. I find the most interesting stat VP....... or VPI........ it means VOLUNTARY PUT IN. If its high, he has a big range of hands that he will play. A low VPI means hes a tight player generally playing premium cards.

you can't see a mucked hand, thats why its called mucked, If you can see that you're cheating IMO

In a casino poker game ,you can ask to see the mucked cards of theplayer who has called. Its to protect against chip dumping. Online they are visable in the hand history.

where do i find the hand history? is this the notes I'm taking or getting that software to take for me?

as for casino, why would someone want to dump chips?

The hand history on Stars is accessed by clicking the icon on the table. It will also do a video replay of the hand, if you click visualise.
Chip dumping is carried out by cheats to keep their own team player in, or to give him a big chip lead in a tournament.

In a cash game with 2 or 3 cheats working as a team they will dump to keep their teammate in the game. If he goes out they lose their advantage.

Do, and be careful about playing against scandinavians. They use web cams attached to their own PC's that can be accessed by their friends and vice versa. If three of them are playing omaha they can all see 12 cards on the webcam feeds.
