Surely he'll only be out 3 weeks or so similar to Ambrose?

Didn't that exact scenario work out really well for Dean Ambrose, you know the guy everybody loves now, just recently? People can be so impatient sometimes, "Unless I get everything I want right now, everything is ****!" :pac:

not the same. Ambrose is new, especially as a singles wrestler, whereas Orton is really stale so he kinda has to work his butt off for people to be interested in him again

Yeah wonders it did for Ambrose - hasn't won a PPV match since May and is back in the midcard working with Waylon Mercy

Heard you are a racist, Father
Renee Young is no stranger to controversy. For Halloween, the WWE broadcaster dressed up as a zombie Native American, which a number of fans have deemed racist and offensive.

What put the costume over the top was the attention to detail. She made her costume to appear as if it as soaked in blood.

She then posted a photo of herself wearing the costume.

After receiving a number of messages deeming the costume racist and offensive, Renee deleted both photos from her Instagram account

She should have had more cop on but psycho Dean Ambrose fans seemed to be the only ones kicking up a fuss.

Ahh yeah, it's not like he routinely gets the biggest pop of the night, or that he is feuding with a character who is the polar opposite of him while still on the same mental level of stability or that it's going to give us some great promos and a great match. But sure that's a sign Ambrose has failed and WWE have screwed him up!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,929 ✭✭✭Monokne

Waylon and his stupid promos where he says nothing that means anything had long since gotten old which is why he was pulled from TV. His feud with Jericho was designed to put him over the top and it was so awful he disappeared after it.

They'd one good match out of 3, as did he and Cena, so if you expect him to have great matches with Dean, you just might be disappointed.

Jericho has also feuded with Ziggler and Fandango while on his part-time runs, nice to see both of them are doing great too! Wyatt (Waylon is fcuking ridiculous by the way, nothing alike). is as much to blame as Jericho is for that feud, but at least the talking was fantastic. Wyatt was vs Cena had two good matches as well as the match at Wrestlemania which told an amazing story in the ring. You clearly don't like Wyatt (which is fair enough) but to even suggest that Ambrose hasn't done well since he came back is ridiculous.

I'm not suggesting Ambrose hasn't done well. He has done very well considering how poorly he's been booked, but you can't overcome bad booking forever. The hot dog skit, the mannequin...horses**t. WWE is very good at creating midcarders and they are doing their level best to do so with him. He has been beaten clean by Orton on TV twice since the turn and lost every match with Rollins. If you can name me the babyfaces who drew money after being booked in this manner, please do. I don't think there are any.

He is over more than the level of his push, which is a credit to him. But so was Daniel Bryan this time last year and none of the shows he headlined did business either, because he wasn't protected and presented like a star. Look at how they protect Roman Reigns. If Ambrose was presented like that, we may well have a star.

I mean no disrespect but if you thought Jericho & Wyatt did good promo work, I just don't know what to tell you. We shall just agree to disagree.

Shame about Renee. Americans are so touchy about issues like that, where as in Ireland we'd have given her a lot of praise for her creativity for her costume. I mean it's actually pretty smart costume when you think about it.

It says she's no stranger to controversy though, what other controversial things has she done?

I don't understand the problem. Is it because she's dressed as a Native American?

Pretty much. In fairness it was a mass genocide and this is raging on in US news/sports: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Redskins_name_controversy

I fail to see how it's racist though? If she had dressed as a Native American casino worker or a drunk Native American then yeah but when zombies are arguably the biggest thing in pop culture at the minute, so much so that every costume this year had a zombie alternative, then I don't see the attached racism. I mean if she was just a Native American would it still be seen as racist?

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,836 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Remember when kids played cowboys and Indians and only Native American children played the part of the Indians?

Sure a girl I know dressed as Mr. T last year. So basically she was being sexist and racist

I know a girl who painted herself black and went out as some rapper

How is a zombie Native American costume racist/offensive?

Ridiculous. I feel that finding racism where there isn't any is actually racist. (Inception noise)

there is absolutely nothing racist about it but there is massive debate in the states about the terms used for native Americans and the Washington redskins are under a lot of pressure to change there name in the last year or two so it's just a hot button topic in the states right now

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,061 ✭✭✭leggo

Ah now, saying it's not racist at all is understating it because people like Renee. A lot of Native Americans still feel treated like second-class citizens in the States, so using their heritage as fodder for a cheap Halloween costume (especially zombifying it so you can't even claim it's a homage) is about as insensitive as black-facing. It's an incredibly short-sighted thing for someone in the public spotlight to do. I like Renee too, but let's call a spade a spade.

I can't see her being severely punished for this, though, with WWE knowing she can just walk at any time.

That's racist, leggo - I demand a full & frank apology to the Boards Universe

The rush to call something NOT RACIST is a bit disheartening I have to say. A white woman dressing up as a Native American splattered in blood does denigrate Native Americans. Not a Politics forum but I thought that was rather obvious in 2014.

People are way too sensitive if they think that is racist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,163 ✭✭✭Beefy78

The controversy isn't that she's dressed up as a Native American, it is that she is dressed up as a dead Native American. I post on another board with plenty of Americans including some 'Indians' who have tried to explain their sensitivity towards white people taking the piss out of dead Native Americans considering the genocide committed against their race by white people.

Basically they're seeing her going to a party as a murdered Indian girl.

Personally I don't agree with their viewpoint. It's a Halloween costume. I went to Halloween as Stone Cold Steve Austin but it wasn't done to take the piss out of him.

    It's utter b*llocks:
For the most part, headdresses are restricted items (Like military medals). In particular, the headdress worn by most non-natives imitate those worn by various Plains nations. These headdresses are further restricted within the cultures to men who have done certain things to earn them. It is very rare for women in Plains cultures to wear these headdresses, and their ability to do so is again quite restricted.

So unless you are a native male from a Plains nation who has earned a headdress, or you have been given permission to wear one (sort of like being presented with an honorary degree), then you will have a very difficult time making a case for how wearing one is anything other than disrespectful, now that you know these things. If you choose to be disrespectful, please do not be surprised when people are offended… regardless of why you think you are entitled to do this.

That said, you can't blame taking swift action to save face. Still ridiculous though - 'You can't wear feathers on your head because I believe it's sacred'.

People have the right to be upset. It doesn't make their opinion more valid. Complainers have so much power - common sense has no power here!

Nobody has the right to not be offended - but if I was in charge of a company and a simple apology and a slap on the wrists to an employee was all it took for this to go away, I'd do it.

Moaners are always going to be there, it's dealing with them in a way that doesn't affect your brand that's all that matters. WWE handled this spot on - it could've been blown up into something bigger

You can't get a real police badge without becoming a police officer. Don't see an outcry of offence when someone dresses up as a cop for a party.

Or dresses up as a cop for a strip tease.

Soon enough dressing up as a ghost for holloween will be offensive to relatives of the dead.

Because cops aren't a race? It's not really comparable.
