[IMG][/img]5057901975_2d0ae3ec91.jpgShenick in mist by seoirseosial, on Flickr

    Shenick in mist
Last December I was taking photographs in Skerries when a sea mist began to accumulate over Shenick Island just off the coast. The sun became a white disc but I liked the light and how it still shone on the water.

This island is somewhat submarine shaped owing to a combination of its natural contours and the position of a Martello Tower which had been built on it to warn of Napoleonic invasion back in the early 1800's.

Anyway, the mist only lasted for a few minutes before it vanished as quickly and mysteriously as it had come.

There is a great walk from Rush to Loughshinny and no reason why in cant be extended to go from Rush to Skerries to Balbriggan and the potential to include a foot bridge to link Rush and Portrane/Donabate.

Look for a reason to do it not a reason to knock it!!!!

Boosted the Saturation slightly and then reduced the temp to give it that blue cast. Its 2 images merged so that brings out the texture a little more

H.D.R. is frowned upon by the snobs but they have no problem using photoshop.

It is however very easy to overdo the H.D.R. so it takes a lot of practice and tricking about with different settings.

    Must level out that horizon!!

The Mill at Whitestown in Rush. Maybe Corsondonk, (our Historian) will give us info on it. A mill on this site dates back to 1600's but not sure if its this one.
    1) from the top floor. From this window you can see accross the Spout Road and right down the estuary. The family who owned it back were supposed to be smugglers and also had a house down at the harbour at the other end of Rush so they couuld keep an eye on the coastline.

This was a great spot for mitching off school many years ago. I saw names etched onto walls of lads I have not seen sine late 70s early 80s oh and a few I cant wait to bump into.

What a few of us in our Camera group have noticed is we have some really beautiful spots around N.C.D. When we consider Ardgillen and Newbridge plus the wonderful beachs we dont have far to go for a decent day out with our families.
