I think there is a lot of confusion about this.

If you have to sit a supplemental next year the cost will be 200 euro irrespective of the number of exams (this was 60 euro)

If you have to repeat the year externally, i.e you don't attend any lectures then the cost will be 200 euro (this used to be 120).

If you have to repeat a few subjects internally (ie not the full year but you do attend lectures for some subjects) but you are not going on to the next year then you pay the per credit amount for each of the subjects.

If you have to carry 1 or more subjects you will pay the normal charge for the year plus a per credit amount for each subject you carry.

If you have to repeat the whole year (and attend lectures) then you pay full fees.

If you want an extension on your dissertation you have to pay 500 euro.

If an exam board is on one day is it possible to get the result on the same day?

Not even unofficially. My exam board was today and I asked the dept head as he came out of the meeting, nothing going. Gotta wait for online results by the end of the week.

I failed two exams in the summer and I missed the repeats in September. I just found out a few minutes ago that the exam board won't let me carry them forward as it's the final year, which I suspected.

Does anyone know how much it should cost to repeat these two subjects both internally and externally? It's a part-time course. I passed three of the five exams.

Both subjects are made up of assignments worth 60% and an end of year written exam worth 40%. If I opt to repeat the two subjects as an external student can I submit new assignments or will I only be allowed to sit the written exam worth 40% and use last years marks in the assignments?

Does anyone know will the college send out a letter or email saying whether you are allowed to either carry or have to repeat the subjects again that you failed in the repeat's ? as it doesn't say on my results online what the exam boards decision is for me ,thanks :)

Alphyra, I didn't notice but I dug up a year old thread.

Similar thing happened to me, I think you stand a chance of carrying exams forward as long as you are not going into the final year.

Cool, thanks for that :) I'm not going into my final year thankfully ! I'm a bit skeptical of them letting me carry them as one is lab based assesments and 60% exam where as the other 2 are assignment and exam so I dunno what the story will be  .

On an aside,I wonder is it possible to opt to repeat the subjects even if you are told you can carry them into your next year as I really don't think I could manage having these 3 and my new subjects hanging over me :( .

I've a similar problem. Failed 3 modules in January.

    1. Repeat exam
    2. Repeat exam + assessment
    3. Repeat assessment

For no.1 I done the exam and I passed.

For no.2 I received in the post the assessment in August which I done and sent it on the lecturer's e-mail and done the exam 2 weeks ago. I received a letter this morning in the post with the results. The mark for no.2 is exactly the same as the one in January, which is a bit confusing since in JAN I didn't send the assessment and only got 8%. How come i got 8% again if this time I sent it and it was properly made.

For no.3 I never received any material on my e-mail or post, stating what exactly I have to do in order to repeat the assessment.

I went to the exams office today and the woman who was sitting behind the desk told me to contact the lecturers and tell them the story and see what they say. I'm going to contact them tomorrow, but it seems that everyone says go to this place, ask this man, ring there etc. DIT should really be more organised.

    I'm really confused :(

Exactly ! that's why I'm wondering what happens now ? do they send me out a letter saying whether I'm allowed go into this year or if i have to repeat the 3 I failed for this year instead, they certainly don't rush to inform people of what they're doing with them.

Spoke with the lecturer from the 2nd module and he said I have done well in my exam+assessment(must have passed), and he will try to sort it tomorrow. So the results must've been lost somewhere. Now there's 1 more module to sort out.

IMO the best thing to do is to go to your year tutor or head of the course as he/she will be able to sort it out.

    Best of luck.
