Well done to all who passed, learn your lesson and knuckle up next year! :p

To those still waiting on results, I would imagine the exam boards are late in some faculties so just hold out until tomorrow, or pop into the college and check the board in the main foyer of your respective buildings!

Yeah my results aren't up either, im doing mechanical engineering (DT006) and i read that the results wont be out until the 25th of September. I dont understand this because apparently we're back on monday 21st, so how am i meant to know if im allowed back or not? I dont want to miss a week of lectures while i wait for my results. Anyone else have this problem?

Do you see "Progression Decision: Pass" in the modelisation page (Its above the grades table) in grade details, If not I think you have to repeat it m8 :( You should be able to carry it through to next year though and I hear the new course head is less strict towards people carrying, :)

Just got told on the phone that my results won't be available until "after the 25th" and not to go near a classroom until I've got my results.

Who do I get very angry at now, pray tell? I mean how difficult is it to mark three papers (thats how many of us repeated this module anyway). There's my new attempt at improving my attendance in ruins before I even started.

    DT028/1 btw.

I wouldn't wait for them to send you out a letter, you could be waiting weeks. Best bet is to just go in and sort it out at the office, thats what i'm going to do because online reg won't work for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭-ilikeshorts

Next year its 60euro per credit to repeat so thats 300 for each repeat worth 5 credits

Not working for me either so I sent them an email asking what the story is. I also never got a Giro in the post (though that could happen tomorrow). I'll post back when I hear something

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,184 ✭✭✭Kenno90

Chances are there not going to sent you a giro ,What i had to do last year was go to the office and get them to give a copy giro (or was it the original since i never got one in the post:rolleyes:)

anyway for the people who failed make sure you up early as the queues will be going down the stairs

Thank god this year i didn't fail anything so i got the giro in the mail awhile ago ,

Also anybody know when DT211 got there results..... or when

Holy sh!t, where did you hear that? thats crazy compared to €60 for as many as you need. What i heard is that it'll be €200 to repeat as many as you need

No its not. Its 200 euro irrespective of how many exams you have to repeat. It says it here:
    http://www.dit.ie/media/documents/campuslife/FeeRates200910.pdf

I think the per credit stuff is if you are carrying the subject, thats what you pay for each subject you carry.

its 200 if you repeat externally .... meaning you only hav the written exam to re do, doesnt apply to people who have failed continuous assesment...

which means you dont attend classes and arent part of the college, you can however get a library card ... other than that your not supposed to be seen until your exams ...

the per credit thing is for repeating internally .... can go to class , part of the college (student card and that)

it depends on the level too (level 6 and 7 are slightly cheap than level 8)

majority of subjects are 5 credits (some are 10) ... meaning to repeat a subject, internally is 300 euro (60 per credit) plus a caption fee on top of that of 135 euro ...

    so 1 subject repeat is 300 + 135 , 435

    2 is 300 + 300 + 135 etc... , 735

That makes more sense. The other poster made it sound like this is what you have to pay per supplemental repeat in august/sept., not for repeating the full year. Thats a better system than before imo, where if you failed 60% plus of your exams you had to pay the full fee (which was about €2k a couple of years ago for CS) or a discounted fee if you failed <60% (which was about 1200 regardless if you only failed 1 or 4) and this was minus the €800 (at the time) capitation fee

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35 30d1a

supplimental prices were only 60 euro I think for all you exams last year (winter and summer 09 repeats) ....

there is a standard fee of 1500 + the caption fee of 135 , hence 1635 euro , for an Irish DIT student to repeat 100% of a year internally ...

if you only failed a couple , i.e. not 100% of the course , you will always pay less than 1635 , as thats the max. Unless your not Irish ... or if your course's continuous assesments require you to invest in materials etc...

I dunno if thats correct tbh, the €60 for any and all supplemental repeats is right, but that has gone up to €200 this year i beleive (same price as repeating year externally), but when I had to repeat first year internally (back in 07/08), i paid about €2000 to repeat (with <60% to repeat i.e. 3 subjects), worked out at 1200 to repeat year and 800 capitation fee. I can only imagine the repeat fee has gone up and not down.

did you fail labs (continuos assesment) in those subjects you failed ....

I vaguely remeber being told that if labs and classes were involved in the repeat, you were subject to the full caption fee ...

the 135 I've mentioned , is the part time caption fee , just exams , no labs to repeat ...

I was quoted 1335 for 4 exams if I were to repeat internally this year ...

    thats 4 x 300 =1200 and the part time caption fee ....

if it didnt involve labs , I'd look into getting your money back man

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35 30d1a

    oh ...

and also , there are different types of credits (ECTS is the main one) but there are others which cost different prices

No, i re-did the CA aswell, but they never specified there was a difference. There were 2 options: repeat externally, pay €200 and just do exams, repeat internally, pay €2000 and show up to all your classes etc.

unless the part time option was something new ...

but thats the quote I got on Friday .... and you can only repeat continuous assesment internally ...

I'd chase up on that man , thats an extra charge of over 600 quid if not more , if you had the option to pay the part time fee
