Had my reg/orientation yesterday. you'd want to be there for 9 alright, or else you'll be late into the opening lecture thing, at the end of which they put you into your course group. Boring enough day i reckon but it was nice to meet the people you'll see for the next four years on your course!

Cant wait for freshers week now!:)

You dont have to turn up for orientation.

But if you do, be on time because they'll be sorting you into groups etc.

I didn't bring it with me on the day but you will have to show it to someone in admin in the west wing because they will hound you with an e-mail. i didn't show mine yet and i'm going into second year i could be any age for all they know it was pure laziness on my part though i should have shown it!

If you want to get your student card the day of the orientation, you'd want to bring your birth cert or passport. It says so in the registration booklet you got in the letter.

I don't have my long form birth cert as the VEC currently has it as part of my grant application. Will I be fine if I just bring along my Passport?

Thats cause they would rather pocket more of your money. Its on the website anyway so they have to accept it

Unfortunately, you do not become privy to this secret until you are a seasoned fresher, but the MiCard is utterly worthless.

    Why so?

Because everything you can get with a MiCard...YOU CAN ALREADY GET WITH A STUDENT CARD!

Had orientation today. Had a good time and got all the subjects I wanted.

Some handy freebies like the Hot Press magazine, lollipops, condom, pens and vouchers :D And I can't forget the hangover pills. I took one that day - it really dries you out. Drank about 2 litres of water in an hour!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,725 ✭✭✭CZ 453

Yea I've got a 7000 euro bill for my troubles of going back to college. Did a course when I was fresh outta the womb of secondary school 4 years ago in CIT. Hated it and dropped out after a few months. Didn't think much of it at the time until January this year. Gutting.

Anyway I've orientation on Friday. I'm still waiting on a loan to be OK'd by bank so at the moment I have no money to pay for registration. What should I do? The banks reckon it'll be another 3 weeks before anything gets to me.
