Ooh, I know which guy you're talking about (having eliminated the other 1500m athletes from memory). That's really cool that you used to run with him. Fingers crossed for him and the rest of the squad in Barcelona.

Yeah, it was Rory Chesser. He ran really really well. I mean, he was right up the front until about ~200m to go, and he just didn't have the pace. But it was his first time at such a competitive level, so he should definitely improve in the next few years.
Speaking of which, Jason Smyth is amazing. He's a para-athlete, yet he's competing here and he got through the first round of the 100m! He then finished fourth in his semi-final, but unfortunately didn't make the final. :( Gillick got through to the final very easily in the 400m, winning his semi-final in a season's best of 44.79

Interesting fact about Jason Smyth - He's the second fastest Irishman ever, if memory serves correctly.

    CHICHARITO :)

Good match overall, especially for the reserves.

Do RTE plan on showing any athletics events. I tuned in to what I thought would be coverage of the European Athletics Championships. Instead I'm treated to 3 backslapping idiots sitting in Dublin.

Don't expect to see much over the weekend. RTE have full coverage of the Football.

    9 points in it. Incredible!

Edit: Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ, that was a soft penalty decision.

6 points in it at the final whistle. That'll surprise a few "experts"!

I'm surprised that Kerry lost but thought Down played really well and definitely deserved it.

Can't wait for Dublin's game later, Tyrone's probably going to win but i'd love if it was a close one :D Fingers crossed!

Fcuking sickened doesn't even begin to describe it, that was the most shocking display from a Kerry team I have ever seen.

Down/Kerry game was very good. Delighted for Down. Kerry were woeful, but they've had their time and maybe it's time to search for some new players to replace the ones that retired/went to Auzzi rules??

    And C'mon Tyrone!

C'mon the Dubs! It would be class if they won today :)

+1 That would be pretty amazing!

Kerry were as sh!te as i've ever seen them. No midfield at all, and a general lack of hunger and effort.

Dublin were excellent, vastly improved on previous games, and have a realistic chance now at the All Ireland IMO for the first time I can remember.

Two great games in Croke Park today, especially happy about Down winning.
Now, let's hope Derval O'Rourke does well in the hurdles for a great end to a day of sport! :)

Not bad by O'Rourke :) Looking forward to watching her final now.

Great day for Dublin. They won (even though they were awful) and Kerry lost.

BTW, the GAA can seriously fúck off with charging €25 for a student ticket.

Ah the GAA, what's new there?

That has to have been one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a Kerry team. Delighted Down won though.:)

Can't say the same about Dublin though. They were much better than they have been recently and fully deserved to win but I wanted Tyrone to win (as much as I dislike Tyrone, Dublin is even worse):(

'Mon the Lilly Whites and Rossies tomorrow.

Great run by Derval O Rourke a true championship performer!!! When she retires she should become a sports phycologist!!!!

Come on Roscommon today. The other game I don't really care about but I will be cheering for Kildare.

Are Cork meant to be favourites for the all-Ireland?

Terrible performance so far. But lads, Donal Shine is some player...so for that reason, gwan Roscommon!

I actually think he is a bit overrated.

Overrated? Half of Rosscommon let alone Ireland hadn't heard of him before this year! And tbf he carried that team in the Connaught Final, without him not a chance they woulda won.
Hes a classy player, but of course hes going to make mistakes if hes their plan A, B and C for scores..

Mehh would be cool if Roscommon won I guess, because then it would be all underdogs so far..

He's carrying the Roscommon forwards? The team wouldn't have a hope of being where they are without him. Yeah, he's made a few mistakes but every player does, Cork are living proof of that today with all the wides.

I was getting hopeful for Roscommon for a while after their excellent start to the second half but tbh, I can't see Cork losing this match anymore.

Roscommon should have led going into half time. They missed easy chances and Shine missed alot of them aswell.

If he was injured today or got injured earlier, Roscommon would have had no hope of winning the game. You can't have one man who only does the majority of the scoring.

Really hope Kildare sock it to Meath in the second half. Apparently they're a second half team, so looks possible! :D
