    Congrats to all who passed.

My best mate was only doing 1, a hangover from the old Prof 3 and she didn't get it. Am very dissapointed and sad for her :(

Can't believe the pass rate for SFMA was that high!! Seems very strange

Think it was one of those exams that was difficult but in reality quite easy to get enough to pass but to do well was tough. Else because of the f&*% up with the last question they had to alter marking scheme to peoples benefit? who knows....may sound selfish but at this moment i dont care!

Q1 was long and if you didnt get part A done part b etc flowed from it so you were under pressure then and Q1 was worth 66% ifrc. so alot of people may have fallen down on timing rather than not actually having the knowledge.

Failed them all. Sweet. tbh the pass rates strike me as b*llsh*t, congrats to all who passed etc but I'm finding it hard to see a 72% pass rate given everything that went before. Somethings fishy IMO. Plus going from 70+ in auditing in the mocks to a fail....... Odd.

Prinz not much I can say to you just wanted to reply to you in someway.

Try to have a few drinks later and forgot about it a bit.

The pass rate is alot lower than other years and if you firm is anyway fair they will look at your mock results and realise that it was just a bad week / unfair exams.

And you can always rant on here :)

:pac: Don't worry about me, it's like a big weight has been lifted off just knowing, one way or the other. Drinkies on the menu for me :pac:

Really, I thought it was the same. What was the Prof III pass rate last year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 Bella99

68% passed first time last year, down to 52% this year. Big leap down

I can't really remember, but was high 80's that is in my head. but someone who sat them would know better and can correct me!

A few friends of mine got credits again this year. They had credits for CAP 1 aswell. It's just so unfortunate that that happens..

To be honest there are always going to be victims everyone is gonno know someone who failed and pass!!

To be honest the pass rates were a lot higher than i expected which is great... The prof three pass rate last year was 67 %

Thats pretty good but that was becasue a lot of people compensated there!!!

For prof three id say if there was no comp the pass rate would be about 20%. So count your selfves lucky all those who passed SFMA cause thats an absolute nightmare of a paper!!!

Well done again for everyone who passed and for those who failed, most people pass in the repeats!!!!

F*ck this sh*t doing 1 from last year SFMA! Its a joke can't believe how hard it was and how different it was from Prof 3 circumstances came against me last year and the institute didn't give a damn! From the amount of people who got exactly 50 i've heard coming from this exam and the scandal regarding the paper i am a little suspicious of the oh so helpful ICAI!

Think i'll pack it in! Good luck to all continuing in their quest!

Right i failed 2 exams also, Auditing & Financial Reporting, what are the steps from here in preparing for the repeats in Oct??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1 84l

I failed all mine last year and had to repeat them last October, I really put the head down studied most evenings after work and at least one full day at the weekends. I took three weeks holidays before the exams to study too and I got them. The repeats are even harder than the exams you just sat so think postively work hard and hopefully ye will pass in October.

Best of luck with the study!

Take is easy this week, and put the head down next week, have a shcedule every night, come home from work and do 2-3 hrs, do some at the weekend aswell id say scheulde your day and at least do one ful day.

Work on any weakness you ahve, e.g fincial accounting.....

All ica n say is work hard, very hard, ur lucky u got SFMA cause something tells me that in the repeats its gonno be rock hard! cause the institute wont have made that error with the past exam question!

Failed 2, SFMA and Financial Reporting. Got 45% in each wasnt horribly shocked as found those papers really tough. Repeated 3 last year and got them. Could easily startdoubting myself and my ability but im not. I know i can get them next time and hopefully all others on here will.

Well done who all that passed thats some achievement!

    :rolleyes::mad::mad::cool:

Got a 48 and a 45. Absolutely raging when I saw that, so much for helping 'marginal' people to pass SFMA. Anyone know if the clerical rechecks are worth it at all?

Well the results of the rechecks dont come out until after the repeats, which is utterly ridiculous. And you have to pay 200 blips per paper to get it rechecked. They even charge you 45 to just look at your original script (i.e. without the examiners markings). The ICAI are a pure scam of an organisation!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭Little Miss Cutie

I dont think there is much point in having them re-checked as you will miss the repeats.

I know a couple of people who looked at there scripts with a lecturer/ trainer from work and they felt it helped them to see where they went wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,598 ✭✭✭✭prinz

Yeah figured it wouldn't be worth the hassle just resitting them all seems a bit daunting. Just thought I'd add something on this, does anyone else think its odd that the cost of resitting a paper is €100 but only £70.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭Hackysack

Yeah I didn't do too great. I have to repeat three of them. Managed to get Audit so that's some consolation. I expected failures in SFMA and Finance but I'm stunned at Tax.

I thought i sat a blinding exam for that one and I still managed to fail it.

It's that one in particular that has really knocked my confidence. Not much else I can do except starting to get back into the swing of things again.

I reckon i'll have to get a comprehensive plan together of what areas I need to cover off and then budget days and time for me to do it. It'll take ages to do it, but at this stage, I think I need to.

Well done to everyone who managed to get them all and hard luck to anyone else who's repeating as well. I'll be seeing you in October!!!

Clerical rechecks (numerical etc...) will have a result within 14 days of your apeal..its only the full paper recheck that does not come out untill after the repeats.(well thats my understanding)
