My experience of using a MM to test coils is that if it fails the test; coil's goosed. If it passes the MM test; coil may still be goosed.

I think the real test is finding someone into diagnostics who can examine current ramps on the plug wires with the oscilloscope (which often implicates bad plugs too) or else using swap-tronics using another bike or new parts.

I can get a set of coils that have been tested and proven to work for €50. I’m considering it.

I can switch out the coils myself without issue. If I order today I might get them in a week.

What I’ve noticed is that as well as no spark the plugs aren’t wet from fuel, is that normal? There’s no fuel pump in those bikes, they’re gravity fed.

Have you checked to make sure theres power from the CDI to the coil?
When I was troubleshooting the DR during the rebuild, that was one of the things Paul from HD told me to check as we couldn't figure out why there was no spark.

In the end it came down to the built in anti theft system that was ****ing it about.

Unlikely four coils have all failed at once.
    Testing:
    - test resistance on each coil. Compare to values in manual

    - turn on ignition . Is there 12V at the pos. terminal on each coil?

There’s no life at all in all 4. Went through them last week. Everything else works

There’s no anti theft device in that bike I reckon. She’s 30 years old now

Does it have a crank sensor
I would be thinking no signal from the crank sensor it would not know when to fire

    Look on the bright side.
The fact she isn't starting is an anti theft device of sorts :D

I could leave the keys in it outside my front door all night even if it was running and she’d probably still be there the next morning :pac:

I taxed it today. €26 for the year

sure the DR isn't that much younger.
The anti theft is dumb as **** though on the Suzuki, but effective.
    Stops them being hotwired

Honda angels, notorious troublemakers when it comes to parking, otherwise, a very nice bunch.

Spin down to the old head of kinsale after work yesterday, first spin longer than the drive to work since last year.

I love them. Great riding position with plenty of torque. Not the fastest bike but then you know that already. It’s got great road presence and has the appearance of a helicopter gun ship on wheels.

Hard to believe I have this bike 1 year today. This photo is courtesy of blade1 who seemed to enjoy himself in the snow a bit.

I suppose the stoppies done that.
Landing from wheelies would as well but I only done around 10 of those.
I'll say one thing, she's solid enough on one wheel at around 140mph :D

The dang clutch seems to be going in it though, that or the slave cylinder. She’s not losing any fluids.

Changing the fluid is worth a try.

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

Had a similar issue with a bike I sold recently. Bike would have fuel and spark. Could visibly see the spark and the plugs were wet but couldn't understand why she wouldn't fire. Bike would pop and backfire but wouldn't fire.

Turns out the engine was hydraulically locked. Too much fuel in the cylinders caused this. Had to be drained and turned over by hand and then it fired once everything was back together and fuel was fed back in.

Might not be the issue you have but something to keep in mind.
