The 750's can give trouble, they updated the gears to the sprag clutch, cct, big end bearing and welded the crank pin in on later 800's. If you want a 750 the 89 model with disc rear had the pin welded.
I'm not anyway serious in my use of them offroad so the mirrors do but those are spurious and am looking for the oem ones off an 800 which are higher.
Bang up a piccy of yer rebuilt dr out n about:)

Haha I havn't been out of the city much on her!
installed a KKE 320mm front disc during the week, but its 5.15mm thick and the factory max spec is 4.2mm so wheel is sticking even with the pads sanded down.
Contacted them about a refund (thankfully an Ebay purchase)

Have a Wilbur shock going in next. Dad seen one for sale in the UK thats set up for 75kg that is also the same height as the lowered setting on the factory shock.

I have double take on the DR, they are really good mirrors, also have the mounts on the BMW, so I can just swap them across depending on which bike im using.

    Nice. Does she run?
Has he still got that rvf out back or has it finally dissolved?

It did run, now i can't get it going. No spark on all 4 of the plugs, have power in the kill switch so it's between that and the coils i reckon. It was missing a side stand switch when i got it, i was told it would run once i got it, that came yesterday and still nada although i was told i should have spark now i have yet to check the plugs.

RVF was there as of the day i got the CBR just over 2 weeks ago.

    CBR1000F

    aka "the ballistic sofa" :)

comfy and fast. Needs the plugs to fire though... hopefully just a dodgy connector or switch somewhere (sidestand, kill, clutch) and not a duff CDI

The aforementioned switches can easily be bypassed for fault finding.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

I was walking by this bike one numerous occasions since i first seen it in 2008, something kept on saying 'buy me, buy me' which i eventually did as can be seen now. I have no experience of these, blade1 said he had the 93-96 version of them alright and spoke positively.

All 4 coils have no spark and everything else works in which case i've been told is unlikely to make it the cdi box as that acts as the ecu also in these does it?

The clutch doesn't need to be pulled in to start it is what enthusiasts of this model state, the kill switch is getting power, the side stand switch was in pieces and duly replaced. What i was told after replacing that switch is i should now have spark, i haven't checked the plugs since doing that though. When it comes to electronics i'm the most clueless man in the world.

I'm trying to avoid sending it to a shop as the wife will give me grief :pac:

What happens when you press the start button?
Is it turning over and won't fire?
Any backfire or smoke from exhausts?

Yeah it’s turning but won’t fire on the 4 spark plugs. There’s a backfire of some sort going on alright and I can smell the petrol.

I put in brand new plugs and they’re still brand new pretty much.

    All other electronics work

Hold the throttle fully open and see will she fire.

Prior to replacing the side stand switch I tried that with no joy, I flattened the battery on the busa as a result :pac:

You probably need to get testing your coils with a multi meter.

I have a multimeter but don’t know how to check the coils. I’m hopeless with this stuff

I’ll go over to the general thread so as not to clog up here

Tuesday’s trip out on this delightful lady. The dang clutch seems to be going in it though, that or the slave cylinder. She’s not losing any fluids.

My experience of using a MM to test coils is that if it fails the test; coil's goosed. If it passes the MM test; coil may still be goosed.

I think the real test is finding someone into diagnostics who can examine current ramps on the plug wires with the oscilloscope (which often implicates bad plugs too) or else using swap-tronics using another bike or new parts.
