The Government never mention rescue dogs in their export figures!!!!!

All joking aside it's a big problem that so many pound dogs and surrenders do go to the UK. On paper it makes out that our pound statistics aren't as bad as they actually are, they make out they're fairly bad, when they're actually chronic. :(

I (and a number of other cat people in Dundalk) are collectively trying to get a happy ending for Tiddles pictured below.

He's a lovely old guy, neutered and has all his vaccinations - his story is a sad one as his owner of 9 years became ill and so Tiddles had to go boarding at a vets, unfortunately since then his owner has passed away.

He is still boarding at the moment but will not be given much longer - just days - to find a home before he is pts. Would be a huge shame as he's good and healthy for his age. The vet nurse who has been caring for him describes him as "a complete house cat, independent and strong minded - can be grumpy but still likes a little game and a rub (on his terms)."

Ideally someone close enough to Dundalk to call in to meet him might then offer him a home without other pets or children as he doesn't seem to get on with other cats and isn't used to children. This rules out a lot of us who are trying to help - as we all seem to have a lot of cats already and/or young kids.

Is anyone keen? Please pm me for details if you can help
UPDATE looks like we've found him a home!

...Further update on poor Mr Tiddles - he was homed, but the people that took him for his forever home decided to leave the country so the poor guy has gone back to the Vets. Can anyone offer him a forever home now???

This breaks my heart, but due to moving abroad i need to look for a home for 2 female cats (Mother (7)and daughter (6)). They are hunters, always catching mice and vermin, lovely loving pets too. Always lived in the country away from roads. We are in South Mayo, if anyone can give them a lovely home it would set my mind at rest. Id love them to come with me but it just wouldn't be possible.

Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances, I can no longer look after Simba. Originally rescued as a kitten, he's really affectionate and playful, loves a cuddle but also likes to wander about outdoors. Ideally his new home would have a safe place for him to go outside.

He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. He's still young at 18 months old and has toys, bed, litter tray & feeding bowls to bring with him. If you can look after him or know anyone who could please let me know!

    Hi

We are moving in a week and have to rehome our 2 turtles. Yellow-bellied slider and a Red-eared terrapin. They were dumped on us a few weeks ago and we have been taking care of them since then. Does anyone know of anywhere that would take them in?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine asked me to put this up. JRT X puppy, who as you can see is just as cute as button was given to them as a surprise, unwanted gift. They can't keep him, they don't have the means or space to due so, plus the dog they already have very much dislikes the puppy. He is around 7 weeks, so yes taken from mammy too early, they know this and went mad at the person who gave it to them. He is male, they just want him to go to a good home before the kids get too attached. PM me if your are interested.

Take then with you. So what if your moving. there are loads of people who do this move and that's the reason you can't take animals. It's bollocks.
If everyone had a pet or 2 there would be no need shelters.

And before people tell me to do my bit.
I have 2 rescue dogs( one who was previously horrifically abused) and 3 cats.
Previously had 2 rabbits 4 hamsters and 2 other dogs.

If she can't regime it here surrender it to a shelter like the DSPCA. Where it will be rehomed with home checks.
Please under no circumstances put it in done deal puppy's are bought there cheaply and used as bait dogs.

Local rescues are full to the brim, there is a 6 month waiting list for surrenders for one. The pup will under no circumstances be put in dd, good homes only, if we find someone to take him locally I will be doing a home check myself and if not I will try to arrange for someone else to do one.

    Twoandahalfmen,
Please desist from such judgemental, presumptuous posting. This thread is where people come looking for help, not a lecture.
Jacvos had already said the turtles were dumped on him/her recently.
And if you had familiarised yourself with the forum prior to wading in, you'd have realised that meoklmrk does not require a sermon on how to go about rehoming a dog.
Do not reply to this post on thread.
    Thanks,

Planning to emigrate start October so need to find a home for my 5 dogs before then. Didnt plan to have 5 dogs, but 2 had an "accident" and we kept 2 of the puppies as good homes didnt come up at the time.

    - German Shepard female
    - Malamute female (small size, like a chunky husky, not the huge type)
    - Husky Male
    - 2x Husky Malamute Crossbreed males

Photos here (will sort out good individual photos later).

    All well socialised and handled.

Hope it's ok to post this here, am posting on behalf of a friend:

My mate has a 11-year-old border collie, and due to increasing health problems will soon no longer be able to look after the dog. I have a cat but I also live in a teeny property so I can't take on the dog, and no friends/family (again, everyone lives in an apartment and that's not fair on a dog that needs space to run about etc).

I tried making enquiries on a few websites, and also even posting ads in shops, but everyone is looking for a younger dog, which is understandable. Would anyone here know of someone in the Dublin area willing to rehome a dog of this age? Additionally, would anyone know if there's an organisation or kennels who could take the dog on long-term? Ideally my friend would love to visit the dog from time to time, but I know that's probably not feasible.

Any advice gratefully appreciated, it's breaking my friend's heart to have to give up his dog.

Can anyone here please help me rehome my dog.
We are moving home and are not in a position to bring him with us.
We have tried all the pounds, rescue centres and they are unable to help him.
If we bring him to our local pound, they said he would be put down within a day which is awful. He is a great dog, very happy & friendly and he deserves better. Here is his profile.

    Name: Bobby
    Age: 3
    Breed: Irish Setter/Lab mix
Temperament: Very happy and easy dog. House trained but he is used to being out the back while we are in work. Loves walks and is good on the lead but he does love getting off the lead and running. He interacts well with other dogs and is gentle with children. He is very social.

If you are in a position to help, please pm me. I am located in the midlands but willing to travel. I have attached his picture.

    Thanks

Hi...just following the thread and wondering did you find a home for your dog?

We are currently looking at options of getting a dog, kids pushing for puppy, while I remember the destruction caused by puppies we had....

So, looking at options around dogs aged 1-3 that would have a suitable temperament to be with kids.

If still available, let me know but one other question is how is he with cats? Have one (got the kids two kittens over a year ago to avoid getting a dog!)

    Tks

I have to move home soon and am unable to bring my cats with me. Some details

They are sisters, been together since birth, just under one year old. House trained indoor/outdoor cats, neutered, microchipped and shots up to date. I will include a 5 foto tall, muilti level cat tree and all accountriments. Although the rescue centre will take them back from me I would prefer if they had a home.

Cindy is a black cat with a white belly and marking on her legs. Chiana is a mostly white cat with some black spots. I really want them to go to a good home, I love them dearly but they cannot come with me when I move.

that's the pair of them together.
please PM me for details, I'd really like them to go to a good home.

Hi Home4Rocky, sorry not to PM you but I've sent two recently without even an acknowledgment so I don't think they're getting through, at least I hope that's it.

Rocky looks lovely and is about the age that I feel we can handle but I'm wondering how he is with cats. I know it's a lot to ask of a dog but I have cats and I need to know that they won't be tormented, they've been through enough at this stage. I'd hate to see Rocky go to the pound and would like to help as I'm looking for an adult dog so what's your opinion regarding the cats? Perhaps if you'd like to PM me, I can at least answer!

    Thanks.

Janmaree, as Home4Rocky is a new poster, they have not built up the number of posts required to use the PM facility. They may have received your PM, but cannot respond to it.
We don't allow posters to put their personal details up onthread either. So, the only option I can think of is for H4R to contact you by Visitor Message (which can be done by clicking onto your profile, if H4R is reading this!).
    Thanks,

Right guys, I have yet another friend who has ended up with unwanted puppies, 7 of them! 2 males and 5 females, this was a complete surprise, my friend was pregnant herself at the time and they only noticed when mammy started getting bigger, mammy is always kept in but these things happen. They are at best guess labby terriers, I would say they will end up being medium size dogs when they are all grown up. 6 are black or black and white, one is white and fawn like a JRT, some are fluffy, some are smooth coat and some are wire haired. Mammy is a bit of Heinz 57 herself. (She will be being spayed soon)

Here's some pics, pups are in the Limerick/Tipp area.

Sadly I have to rehome this fella, he's a boxer, about 4 years old and not neutered.

He's very well trained follows commands sit, lie down and will give his paw, I think he was also thought to walk on the lead without pulling but needs a bit of reminding.

I would take him but the cats just aren't settling with him.

    Hi guys,

I've two female gerbils that need a new home, one albino and one cream. They belonged to my sister who has been having a pretty bad allergic reaction to them, so I'm looking after them until we can (hopefully) find someone to take them.

They're lovely little girls and I'd keep them myself if I didn't already have too many animals as it is!

They come with the cage (which is a little on the small side if I'm honest) and a bit of food to get you started.

I'm in the north Dublin area. Collection is preferable, thanks.

Hi, long time reader.. first time poster :)
I am currently looking to adopt a Malamute or a Husky, we have a 4 bed semi detached house ( one bedroom would be for our new pet ) we have 2 kids, both of them are great with dogs and currently make their pocket money by walking the grandads dog :) I have experience with Malamutes as I spent a lot of time with my brothers malamute when he was working nights and I have longed for one ever since, I wasnt in a position to get one untill now as we had both kids attending school at different times so not a lot of time to walk a malamute as much as it needed, now that the kids are older and not taking as much of our time, I am now in a perfect position to finally get my big fluffy companion that I can walk/run with and wrestle (if/when he/she is big enough :)

If you have or know of a Malamute or a Husky in need of a loving home then please get in touch with me.

    Howdy Colm

Not sure where you're based but as a Husky owner, I've noticed pounds and the likes of done deal littered with them. If you'll pardon the pun. When you say adopt, do you mean for keeps?

Check out your local rescue, pound, etc... But take this one piece of advice, in the form of a question:

Are you willing to exercise (walk, run, bike, etc...) your new 4 legged friend... TWICE daily, for as long as ye both shall live (12-15 years in the dogs case)?

They're a lot of work. And like all dogs, in need of attention and thrive on being part of the pack/family unit. But, they are soooooo worth the time and effort in return. As I'm sure you're aware from your brother...

    Best of luck
