Must have been the second mission that i didnt get to. May watch a long play video and see how far i got.

In the meantime, i was playing Super Mario 3 on the SNES with the nieces.
Made in 1991 i think, so one niece was -7 and the other was -11 when it was released.
    They were useless playing it.
They didnt suck as much at Super Mario World though.

@eddhorse, you're thinking of the drift out series, with neo drift out being the most polished one.

Been playing a bit of MSX today. I can't wrap my head around Castlevania on it, I think I need a manual to figure it out. And people today complain about the Souls series being obtuse? At least that doesn't have merchants that change colour when you whip them because... actually I'm not sure why but it seems important.

Every time I get the MSX out I usually end up playing Space Manbow. It really is one of the best shooters Konami ever made and it's probably the best thing I bought while I was over in Japan despite it costing me a quite a bit! The music is just incredible as well and the composer of Symphony of the Night composed a few tracks for it as well.

Playing some obscure jap beat um up for snes via the wii, but it really looks awful in composite and my RGB scart cables from china are dodgy and dont work properly ( must be a sync thing, everything is a hue of pink or red), anyone have any to sell?

Dove into my newly acquired 60hz Mega Drive (to replace my original 50hz one) and managed to tear through Streets of Rage 2 in 40 minutes on Normal.

I lost two continues thanks to two run-ins with this pr*ck SoR2_Abadede_Sprite.png

    Other games I've been playing:

    Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament
    Flashback
    Road Rash 2
    Sonic 3 & Knuckles*

*having freezing issues during Special Stages at the moment

I think one of the lalds mentioned that Sonic 3 is already 50hz optimized in the Optimized Sega Games thread so maybe thats the issue?

Speaking of Sonic, anyone know when Freedom Planet is out for the WiiU.
I know it's out on Steam as already, but I fancy the console version.

Yap, a PAL Sonic 3 won't play nice with a 60Hz setting. Unfortunately the only way to enjoy Sonic 3 (and other PAL optimised games) is to import NTSC versions of them.

Well, I tried it in 50hz and it feels a lot slower to play. I don't enjoy it at all. I am not sure if I need an NTSC copy of either Sonic 3 or S&K or whatever the proverbial wall is I'm running into. But I agree that it does have something to do with the 60hz, because I can fly through the special stages on 50hz but I much prefer it in 60. So it's a bogus dilemma

    I know, I'm incredibly fussy. :o

Your PAL Sonic 3 is 50Hz optimised, that's the issue. To enjoy that game at 60Hz properly you need a US/JP copy unfortunately

And will that work okay if I lock it onto my PAL S&K cart.. on the PAL MD?

More than likely not. S&K lock on works by modding the other cart's rom so any difference in the rom will either cause trouble or throw up an error code.

Unlikely. You'd need an NTSC S&K too. Your PAL Megadrive though can easily be modded so you can choose the region of the console.

With Bloodborne in my rearview at last, in the past week I have tried Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 and have come to a certain conclusion.
While I may have become merely competent at playing Bloodborne, and recognised and used many of the techniques in the game, it has in no way made me any better at playing the other games in the Souls series, at which I still suck, and suck big time.
That said, I have lit two more bonfires, but they were easy ones I should have spotted the first time around.
Not sure if I should just start the whole thing again.
And, playing Dark Souls with a 360 pad is weird, given I've used a Dualshock for everything else.

Is there any chance of Demon's or Dark Souls being given a PS4 makeover?

Ah i dont feel so bad so.

I own and respect the dark souls games.
I am just not a good enough gamer, i suck at inventories and knowing what to use/equip at certain times.

Demon Souls : Got to 1-2 Was delighted with that.
Dark Souls : My favourite, put a lot of time and effort in and got to the start of Anor Londo.
Dark Souls 2 : Got to Canary Wharf where that ship is. Ass handed to me.

I havent played Bloodborne so maybe there is hope.

I played through all three for the first tine after BB. Dark souls was epic but took a lot of grinding till I got to Anor Londo. Found it a lot easier from then, don't think I needed to summon again. Ds2 was tough in places but still loved it, especially the dlc and I found Demons pretty easy playing as a Royal, summoned once at maneaters for the crack but reckon I could have done them.

Focusing on completing Flashback on Expert (Hardest setting). I'm playing it one or two levels at a time and relying on level passwords to continue my progress. It sucks that it resets my score to 0 but what can you do. Would love a Retron console so I could abuse he save state system as well as keep using my MD controller and actual cartridge.

I love this game to death

Well, there's a guy selling them on Adverts for around 180.
I have one, doesn't get the play it should though.
The save state state would be handy though.

Replaying Dark Souls 2 myself at the moment, just the second half of the final DLC to go and then the last couple of main game bosses. The DLC levels are indeed some of the most brilliantly designed in the series, a healthy selection of elaborate labyrinths and some imaginative mechanics. Only problem I have with it is that the bosses, while mostly excellent in terms of their design, feel a bit too much like endurance matches at times. Certainly as a magic user their spell resistance feels artificially high, and so it can take an age to chip away at their lengthy HP bars - the challenge is less adjusting to their attack patterns, and more that it feels like you have to survive for so long with limited supplies! Pushing through, though, and the finish line is close! Lovely playing the (smooth and) silky DX11 version :) Scholar of the First Sin is weird to play after the original version - all these subtle differences. Some bits become trivially easy, but naturally some bits become even more punishing to even things out :pac:

Think I'll head back to replay DS1 afterwards, never did get around Artorias of the Abyss and Namco were kind enough to include it in their Humble Bundle recently :)

Wuss img out with a magic user are you :P

I've gone back to Bloodborne myself. The crappy framerate is still annoying but I've gotten used to it, I have to say the game has become a hell of a lot easier since beating vicar Amelia. Been making steady progress through it since then.

The reviews have been terrible for it, more so than the previous, though it seems little has changed.
I have Senran Kagura Burst but I think I've only played it twice.

Started playing Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne on PS2. It's so good so far and the creepy atmosphere makes it feel like no other RPG. One thing that bugs me is since SMT4 overhauled the fusion system and made it so streamlined it's a bit annoying going back to older SMT games.

Playing Orcs & Elves there on the DS, load of simple fun, pure pen and paper dungeon crawling!
I wonder why no one has made a multiplayer version on the WiiU, with the holder of the touch pad as DM.
