    Aww that's unlucky.

    On the bright side, RCSI is as good a place as any to do medicine. Good location, very nice building, has a great reputation - I'm sure you'll get on great there. :)

    I hope you'll enjoy it there, it's a really fun place to be. Great societies/clubs, people (especially the fact that it is so diverse in nationalities, it's brilliant), the lecturers are top class and as long as you have enough interest and committment to the course, you'll be fine.

    I would have thought the points for medicine would have been a bit higher, but i'm not complaining. Good luck and well done to all and I'll see any fellow UCCer's there:)

    I think the HPAT did almost what it promised.

    The universities and the DES claimed it would give people on 480 LC points a decent chance. They weren't too far off.

    Galway - 713*

    Top HPAT score reported - 225

    Possible entrance to med - 713 - 225 = 488 (realistically 490)

    They were wrong by only ten points. So now, theoretically, a sub 500 LC points score can get into med.

    I think the system has opened the career up to a wider spectrum of student, which is fantastic!

    I really was expecting a down to the wire case in my bid to secure
    a place in NUIG with 736, now, however, i feel foolish for putting in the effort and getting 7 A 1's!!! As a result of that onerous leaving cert and the work ethic that presupposes a successful one, I'm not even too worried about what this medicine can throw at me!!! Good luck everyone btw

    1 A student did get into medicine on 520 points

    2. More FIRST time LC got into medicine ( I presume probably because you have to MATRICULATE and bring LC points at same time)

    3 More MEN got into medicine

    Congratulations to all who did

    and commiserations to those who didn't succeed this time especially first time LC who got high LC points but not as good HPAT who would have got in under the old system.
