Could have been custom made or most likely adapted from a Morooka tracked dumper chassis.

I was thinking it might be custom made, pity i didn't get few pics of it in up to 4'-5' of waves, backing in and taking out search and rescue dinghy's.

Was on a tour of my local post Napoleonic fort here in the UK this afternoon which is also a business centre and came across a load of Unimog road railers and an old crawler tractor.

Sean, some nice gig rigs there! they just left to rot now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,884 ✭✭✭101sean

They are still used although the rail certs are out of date on many.

The crawler appears to have been left to rot, belongs to the same company.

Got to hire a Land Rover road-railer for a job in the next couple of months, I'll post pics when I get my mitts on it :D

One of our machines had a hydraulic pump fail last week. Over 400 hours labour and a 7 figure parts bill to put it right

well not mine but I'll be hiring it for a weekend, not allowed to drive it on rail though :(

Reason for hiring it is to transfer the Lidar scanner off the the Disco to trial on Network Rail
The scanner produces a very accurate streetview type picture you can measure off and produce drawings from, the unit we are using has 5 scanners and costs £450k to buy

Hard to tell as the cab looks to be collapsing, reckon it's post war British but don't think it's a Bedford RL. There were a few other 3-4 ton military trucks by Commer and Ford etc but I'm 500 miles away from my library at the moment!

Thanks Sean. I'll try to get a closer shot next time I pass but here's a link to the full size image if anyone wants.

There's some sort of logo on the front. Just can't make out, what it is.

Could it be an old Bedford ?

    Cab looks similar.

Something like a Bedford RL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedford_RL

Nope, It's the Fordson above ;)

Beside the badge shape, the roof hatch is offset on the E4, it's central on the RL

Do like the RL though, mate of mine had one but reckoned RL stood for Real Liability!

Box on the back of that looks home made (but a good job). The guy was all kitted out in green too matching it

130s are getting a little more common, bro in law runs one (his second), nothing else will do the job. There's a tasty Bonatti grey running round in S Tipp.

Went to the War and Peace show in Kent (over working at the moment) at it's new site this morning to see whether it had improved. We stopped going 10 years ago as the organisers were too greedy and facilities were poor. It's probably the worlds biggest MV show and loads of Irish MV owners attend, met a few there. The site was immense, imagine an MV show taking up the whole of the Curragh racecourse and all the surrounding fields. I didn't get to see it all as I was too knackered (combination of a night shift and a session on the beer!)
