I use TK Maxx because it's the only place you can get double cuffed shirts without paying an arm and a leg. I do pick up the odd item of clothing in there. Where is the jacks there?

Champion pay more in rent for their MDJ shop then their Grafton St one :eek::eek: but are not closing anytime soon.

That is outrageous. I'm sure the Grafton Street one sells multiples more stock.

    It's not outrageous.

If it is true that they are paying more rent there than Grafton Street, then more fool them!

At one point the McDonalds was paying more rent for it's Grafton St store then its Time Square store in New York, it happens. Champion weren't tricked into it, they were offered that rent and they took it.

If the staff have targets you wouldn't know it going into the shop. I had to hunt for someone to help me a get a jacket down from one of the top racks and then they wandered off when I was going to ask for more stuff so they lost out on at least two extra sales there.

Ever go into Schuh? They escort you to the bloody counter and oversee your purchase.

"Alright, you're on commission, I get it!"

Would seriously, seriously doubt they are paying more rent for McDonagh than Grafton street.

On a seperate note, TK Maxx is ok for mooching about in and picking up a cheap item or two. But there is zero incentive to go over to McDonagh Junction, I don't know if they could have got Tesco's but Dunnes was a big mistake.

@Dan Tesco and Kilkenny has been in the grapevine for a long time. One I heard was they wanted MacDonagh but Dunnes outbid to keep Tesco out of Kilkenny and Dunnes to hold the Monopoly. Tesco also rumoured to be opening Tesco extra in the mart, if that goes ahead link. Dunnes huge mistake, should have taken a hit and got in anyone else.

Tesco would never have gone into McDoughnut Junction because of the paid parking. Tesco also tends to be out in the open by themselves nowadays.

Tesco do indeed prefer large out of town sites on their own. I wouldn't be surprised if they grabbed the old Mart site for themselves and developed a large store on their own. This had always been their plan back 15 years. They had offered the Mart millions back in the mid 90s to take the site off them. Of course they had bigger ideas, that are on ice at the moment.

Was over in MacDonagh Junction today. The place was very busy actually, especially Dunnes and TKMaxx.
And I noticed two of the units have Reserved splashed across them now, that is recent. One beside Fields Jewellers, and across the way beside Next.

i don't take any notice of those signs, back in Dec they had "opening in March" stickers all over the empty units. And across the roundabout there's been a "sold" sticker on a unit beside the former Voice office for nearly three years.
