    Well I'm doing pass.
    I think with the high chance of me failing honours a pass in ordinary is better, though I think I should get at least a B seeing as i have been doing honours for the last three years.

    Any predictions for section B?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,093 ✭✭✭Occono

    I'm definitely dropping to Pass but god I should have studied more, I absolutely wasted five days I had to study Phys and Chem. I could smack myself silly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 643 ✭✭✭Swizz

    Ive wasted 5 acting like Im on Hols. Ah well theres always next year.

    Ah what an amazing paper -i went in expecting to be scraping for 160 marks(40%) and i think i got myself a b1 the experiments were SO EASY how did that happen ?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,211 ✭✭✭celtic723

    very fair paper will be kicking myself if i don't get a B3.

    that was class alright , didnt think i got anything out fully but hopefully I got most of the marks , did anyone else find question 5 kinda tough? i went half way through and skipped on to an easier one , go on Cockroft ya legend :D

    Great paper!

    Section A was just amazing:D:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 230 ✭✭Isaac702

    Well that didn't go well.
    Section A was nice however some of the questions on Section B were terrible.
    I think I have answered Section A well and 3 of the questions on Section B well. Then the other 2 were not the best).

    From my rough calculations I may get a C2 however a C3 is more likely.

    Ah well there is nothing that can be done about it now. It should be interesting to see what happens in August.

    Ye a few parts were slightly tricky alright

    Questions 6 and 10 were laughable

    Experiments were ridiculously easy, question 5 was kinda crap, I did an extra question though. Expecting the A1 :D

    Yeah I was happy enough but anyone write down answers for question 6 i could check with??

    Q6
    a=5.9536
    F=644.36
    Friction=227.878

    CF = 771.75
    h=5.625

    I either got it right...or very very very wrong :rolleyes:

    Anyone else realise that Hooke's Law is given in the maths tables, so can basically just be copied straight out onto the answerbook For 12(a).
    Some questions also.

    Skateboard question (6): did anyone else get 1.5 metres for maximum height? I did it two different ways and got about that but it seems wrong.
    Also component of skateboarders weight parallel to ramp was like 500 and something newtons? Friction is his actual weight minus this?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,893 ✭✭✭Davidius

    Section A was surprisingly easy. Though I think I might have made a couple of fumbles on Q4.

    Section B was not as great. Thought Q5 and Q6 were simple enough but I struggled a bit to find a fifth question. I ended up attempting both Q7 and Q8 with what I knew.

    Went very well, I have to say.

    I answered every question except 4 and 9.

    Very fair paper.

    That looks pretty similar to what I got... apart from your first acceleration... I got more like 2.9768 m/s^2...

    Asides from all that, I thought that was a pretty nice paper. Yet again pretty much all the predictions actually worked. There were one or two slightly dodgy parts in some of the questions, but I just did an extra Q in A and B to be sure...

    Now to study my chemistry for tomorrow, Latin for Wednesday, Music for Thursday and Applied Maths for Friday. What a fun week :D

    You're second part is right, but i'm pretty sure youre first three are wrong,
    acceleration should be half what you got, using v^2 = U^2 +2AS.
    Sorry to be bearer of bad news:(......

    Overall nice enough paper, Section A was such a nice section:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,739 ✭✭✭Jello

    Didn't go too well for me, but I'm crap at Physics. Hoping for a pass.

    But I'm finished now so freeeeeedom!! Time to par-tay.

    will I lose much for forgetting a 2? cause I wrote out the formula and everything I just forgot to use the 2 when multiplying it out =(
