    Welcome to the estate.

Vodafone do decent broadband in the area.

Anyone can use the visitor spaces but people "might" complain if you park in them all the time as where would visitors park.

For the 2 beadroom houses they are allocated 1 car space, 2 spaces for 3 bedroom houses.

Ended up getting Eircom Broadband which is grand so far.

And someone did complain already about parking in the visitors spot. But with 2 cars and only 1 spot where else can we park?

not to sound glib about it, but should you not have asked about the allowed parking spaces when agreeing to rent the property? Personally I wouldn't have an issue with you using visitors spaces, it'd be no skin off my nose, but things like that do really irritate some people, and the last thing you want is them complaining to your landlord. Perhaps choose the visitors space furthest away/least used/ least conspicious....that way at least you are not rubbing anyones nose in it that you are using the spaces.

We did ask the letting agent who told us we could use the visitors spots. Parking in a visitors spot further away is not a big issue but surely then we'll have the neighbours who live closer to them spots complaining? At this rate it would have made more sense for me to rent the apartment on my own and have my other half "visit" everyday

good luck with selling that idea to her! :)
next time a neighbour asks, just tell them that she doesn't live there, she just visits....A LOT!

I meant use the kind of random ones that are not exactly beside anyone's property. Dunno if there are any of these in Newhaven, but in our estate there are a few visitor spots around the corner that aren't in front of anyone in particular's house, they face a green area, and are generally empty anyway. If there is somewhere like that perhaps park there? Or are there any neighbours who haee 2 spots who only have one car? maybe approach them nicely and ask if they would mind if you park there. Of course, tell them you will be happy to park elsewhere if they have visitors or whatever, but when its unused they might let you use the space.

sure a letting agent will tell you anything to get you to sign a lease. Next time, rent somewhere with 2 spaces and make sure its specified in the lease agreement!

If you have to park, you have to park. As simple as that in my opinion. Im lucky to have a drive way so it doesn't really affect me.

Well I have had my car damaged. A neighbour further into the estate had a shovel put through his window and bottles smashed against his wall. Another neighbour has had her house pelted with eggs and regularly finds broken bottles outside her house at weekends. Trees in the estate have been broken down. Graffiti has appeared on some peoples houses. Drug deals have been witnessed. Young teen schoolgirls have been seen on the mitch in a certain house of ill repute during school hours. They have been escorted out by Gardaí a few times.

This is a small estate with more than it's fair share of problems.
I have lived in Newhaven Bay since 2008 and have never witnessed any anti-social behaviour. The only thing the so called residents association seem to be interested in is creating issues for their own ends (electoral purposes, the chairman ran in the local elections for Sf).
