From a psychology perspective it's fascinating to try to understand why we have such deep empathy for members of other species. The fact is that dogs are the animal that is most intune with a human way of thinking.

I can readily admit to being more upset about hearing of a dog being shot in the leg than a human. I cant explain it and on the face of it it makes no sense. But its a fact with a lot of people and thats all that matters
