I love both but WAW is my fav, even though its kicked me a couple of times like resetting my stats when I prestiged and the makin day patch that gave us the free content error, but still love the game for giving me The Dome & Asylum maps :)

Modern Warefare has a much better single player campaign imo, it's actually like playing through a blockbuster movie, its absolutely incredible.

With regards to the MP side of things they are both excellent shooters, two of the best around. It all depends whether your tired of the WWII setting or not, which I know a lot of people are by this stage. If you are then Modern Warefare is the way to go as an all round quality package.

Cod5 is one of the worst FPS games I have ever played on PC.

    That is all.

Never got into the PC games so wont start the whole debate again but to see a comment like that about COD5 is unreal.

both COD4 & WAW are in a class of their own and long may the series continue.

COD 4 for me. Not into the WW2 gameplay myself.

If you can afford it buy both . Couldn't pick one over the other .

They're both absolutely amazing games, but I'd pick WAW for the Multiplayer Maps like Station + Castle :D
    Bouncing Betty's + Castle = Fun! Fun! Fun! ;)

Just bought WAW over the weekend and really enjoying it. The Maps are huge and I like that the guns arent as powerful or advanced as in COD4, adds a bit more skill to getting a kill :)

I like the addition of the dogs too

CoD4 without a doubt, I didn't even bother buying CoD5 after the beta...

They're not even in the same league! CoD4 without breaking a sweat!

The new map pack for WAW has just nudged it ahead of COD4 for me. Especially Knee Deep.

I play both games on the PC and think CoD4 game play is a lot better than WaW. Here are my points for and against the games . . .

    CoD4:

    For:
    Well balanced weapons
    Great sound effects
A lot of highly skilled players *points at Toughy*
    Great multiplayer maps

    Against:
The graphics have a washed out look
    Noob-tube

    WaW:

    For:
    Zombie and co-op modes

    Against:
Until this game arrived I didn’t think I’d ever see more shades of brown than Quake I.
    There’s little difference between guns.
    Poor sound effects
Not enough servers running co-op and zombie modes
    Very few high skilled players
Higher spec PC needed with little to show for it

Good analysis Kirijoleth! Except for pointing at Toughy and using the words "Highly Skilled"... LOL :p

Seems that if you play on the PC, you HAVE to prefer CoD4. Console players are quite happy with WaW though. Then again, that's not really surprising... Treyarch only really code for consoles (remember CoD3). In fact, Treyarch should ONLY code for consoles! That would be great!

Play on PC , much prefer COD WAW . For me COD 4 was just a spray fest .

Didn't you have a connection problem with COD WAW at the start ?

there is no such thing as skill in Cod4... it is all randomness to the power of <random_number>

    CoD5 by a country mile.

CoD 4 got boring very quickly with nearly every gun being identical, every map resorted to spraying (unsurprising since their was only a handful of guns that weren't full auto), and the maps were some of the worst that I've ever played. Far to small.
Single player was good but even in this respect CoD5 is better

It's interesting that while there seems to be generally good views on both games, everybody is focusing on the multiplayer.

In terms of plot and storyline COD 4 wins hands down. WaW never really stood a chance because a lot of people wrote it off months before it came out for two reasons: World War II & Treyarch. Which wasn't really fair because it's really an excellent game.

If I had to stop playing one of them it would be WaW but I think they're both excellent games.

I suppose with Modern Warfare 2 on they way, we won't see any more map packs for COD 4?
