Dont know the situ with sligo but alot of people from dublin travel up and down to tramore, if you pop in the surf shop there and tell them your looking for other surfers to car pool with they cud take ur number and pass it on to any others they meet...

    Tramore eh?

But yeah, I just leave my board at home in Cork and try to drag it out any weekend I'm home. But I'd be all on for going from Dublin to Sligo/Tramore/where ever if there's the possibility of getting to surf more than once every month or 2.

So yeah, I'd be on for car pooling...

We're headed to fanore tomorrow, to call us surfers would be an exageration.

Will be camping down there, if no waves we'll be rock climbing.

I've a free seat in the car.

I'm in a fairly similar situation mate, I'd be up for heading away most weekends if the forcast is good. Usually west though, not a huge fan of Tramore considering you can get to Sligo as quick, if not quicker.

I've been daytrippin to Sligo/Donegal every Sunday for a couple of months now. Every intention of continuing to do so. I'd be well interesdted in a car pool option if anyone is up for it.
Based south side dublin, tend to hit the road by 8am oof a sunday.
Let me know if your interested

when you head down for the day do you get 2 surfs in? i usually only get the one cause im so cold after the first but id say with the longer days/better weather id manage two!

so where you planning on heading? bundoran?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 83 ✭✭smythire

    north of silgo 4 sure:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 135 ✭✭jkl

    Sure I'm in too.

Driving from Dublin (sandyford) 1 passanger (girlfiend) 2-3 spare seats.
Have a Renault megan scenic, so if i'm traveling with just the 2 of us i can strip the seats out and carry gear.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 99 ✭✭will3k

I'm in too, might have another lad with me, but if anyone wants a lift / more leg room youre welcome to a seat.

Maybe we could all meet up in the water/beach? To help getting these trips going more frequently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 135 ✭✭jkl

I've never surfed in sligo before, just lehinch, bundoran and fanore.
So directions'd helpful, I'd be prety enthusiastic about regular meets.

No one has decided on a specific beach, so whats it to be? Bundoran? I'll probably drive up myself with a mate, i've got space for two as well. Not much carpooling for the first trip then, hahaha.:D

Streedagh is my top beech break and then i am looking for a reef break

Streedagh is a pretty mellow beachy, probably will be 2-3ft going by the forcast, but should be nice and clean.

My friend can't make it now, so I've an empty car if anyone wants a lift.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 149 ✭✭napapa

    Streedagh, sounds good to me.

Are we going meet down there? or somewhere outside of Dublin? what time?

I've had a change of plan, i'll be headed to Achill on friday night (unless the missus puts her foot down), then headed from there to Streedagh sunday. So unless i'm completely whipped i'll be meeting yis down there.

See ye next time so :D I'll PM ye my number in case you make this one

@napapa - you still have my number? I've yours here, so I'll txt ye when I arrive in Streedagh. I'll be on the road at 8, and in the water by 1030 :)

I'll definitely be there sunday, its only if i get to go mountain boarding and climbing on achill (saturday) that depends on how whipped i am. :p

Go through Sligo, keep heading on the Bundoran rd, til you hit a village called Grange, the turn for Streedagh is just as you enter the village, on the bend. There's a sign for it on the right of the main road as you're driving, kinda small so you might miss it.

When you take that turn, you'll be on a small road which you take a right off (pretty sure there is a sign here too for Streedagh) Then just follow this road right around to a lovely beach. :D
Give me a bell if you need.

Cheers, I'll see you down there. 3-4 wetty with boots should be ok, yeah? Just back from oz and it was 22oC in the water...i was the only one without a wetty :D...they reckoned it was cold, lol.

The sign's been bumped so it points towards bundoran, it's the turn after Supervalu!

howya folks, i'd be interested in car pooling next time anyone is heading west, although I am only a beginner though, surfed in lahinch/mayo bout 4 times last year and got the bug, bought myself a board and suit there recently and itching to get out . . . .

dont mind driving down, and giving lifts, just looking for a few bods to head out with as mates are otherwise tied up planning weddings etc etc

    cheers . . .

    p.s. coming from south dublin
