It was only a matter of time...theres two lanes there coming down from the Beacon court, 1 is a right turn into Dunnes, there not really marked that well....i'd say someone was in the wrong lane....:(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

Who's at fault? That's for the courts to decide. Too early to say for definite.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 333 ✭✭Funxy

I'm sure insurance will cover it as it was an accident. Though it does prove that maybe people who aren't used to driving supercars should take it easy. It's not the easiest thing to lose on a straight slow road  Though indeed maybe it's the pug drivers fault. God knows but i feel very sorry for whoever crashed the ferrar simply because it probably wasnt des cullen himself driving.

Or else the butler in the drawing room with the candle stick.

Absolute sickener, I wonder will the price go down in the next few months on that after the repair though...or will it just be exported:D

The rumour is true, valet collects them in the carpark and brings them across the road. nasty!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 64 ✭✭legalbird12

Word is out that a valeter out in Sandyford has written off a car belonging to Des Cullen cars.

Well, one of those cars has good NCAP.......and it isn't the expensive one !!

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

This seems to happen a lot with these cars, someone who is not familiar with them gives the right peddle a small prod "To see how she goes." and then next thing they are upside down in a hedge. Supercars and mortals do not mix.

The 599 was probably worth more than twice the price of the 575 though...

Well it depends of there's any chassis damage, if not it should be repairable. Parts may be very easy to find depending on the condition of this car http://www.eurospares.co.uk/breaking2.asp?page=55

By the looks of things it was either driven across in front of, or someone overtaking. Seems like a very odd place for it to happen (as it seemed to be quite close to the kerb). Oddly enough, the ferrari looks like it came out worst!

even if there is some chassis damage, they will repair it,
unless someone like traynors get so they can rip it apart, there is a lot of valuable parts still left on that.... wouldn't mind seeing the salvage value the insurance company put on it....

have to say I am sure Des Cullen is delighted, now the insurance company pays for the car and he doesn't have to worry about it not being sold....

He'll only get the book value which is still prob less than the sales value.

possibly.... but much better to get that than have it sitting outside your showroom for at least 12 months further depreciating

Maybe it won't be written off - someone could it for salvage and put it back on the road. Ferrari can pretty much rebuild anything if you've got enough money - remember the whole Gizmondo executive Enzo fiasco? He hit a pole and literally cut the Enzo in half? Ferrari were determined to rebuild the car after the accident.

That was because it was a decisions by Ferrari to always have a set amount of Enzo's on the road and if one was damaged they would buy it back and rebuild using whatever parts they could.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

I know, but looking at that Ferrari, it's predominantly front end damage. The engine looks like it's still in the same place, so maybe it's just bodywork, headlights, door, and engine bay ancilliaries?

Yes but the Enzo is an entirely different story than a 575M.

401 Enzos produced for a single year < X amount 575Ms produced over 4 years, can't find a production figure anywhere.

Not having a Ferrari yet myself, I doubt that they'd bother with repairing a €100k 5 year old Maranello, but I am very much open to being proven wrong.
