love this idea, headed off to a few hunter trials thanks to convert's post! anyone know if there's any jumpcross coming up in the leinster area? saw a youtube video of it recently and thought it looked great, love to give it a shot!

Never heard of crossjump before. Had a quick look on youtube there - it seems it's a mix of showjumping and cross country. Is that right?

Has anyone a list of horse fairs in the west i.e. Castlerae, Ballina, Drumshambo, Westport, Claremorris for 2010?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 Millstreet Horse Show

    Hi All!

I'm delighted to be able to tell you that Millstreet Horse Show is back bigger and better than ever! Millstreet Horse Show is running from the 10th-15th of August. Described as the 'shop window for Irish Sport Horses,' the show is the largest of its kind in Europe with over 1500 stables and 10,000 entries.

Sorely missed from the equestrian calendar last year due to an insurance dispute it is now back and the Duggan family and people of Millstreet look forward to once again opening their doors to the equestrian enthusiasts.

We've some great classes a €107,000 prize fund and best of all just yesterday due to the large number of requests we were getting we've added in a 90cm class. We've also further REDUCED entryand stabling fees whilst INCREASING prize funds!

There is something for all the family. Dine in our delicious restaurants, and afterwards browse through the extensive trade stands!

Nightly entertainment with live bands and DJ. Visit our website for further info. <snip>

is there actually going to be more entries than in 2008

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 Millstreet Horse Show

Realistically with two shows running against us we can't expect it to be bigger than 2008. However, we have done an awful lot of advertising, and I am expecting spectator wise etc. particularly in light of all the recent media coverage to far exceed 2008.

Is there a clash with the National Championships?

Good to see the show back though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 Millstreet Horse Show

@ Richy : Yes there has been considerable interest for England and even further afield which we were delighted about. Riders are talking of coming over for Dublin and staying on for the week in Millstreet.

@ Borderfox: Thanks your kind words. Yes it is clashing with the National Championships which is very disappointing in light of the fact that our dates were announced last October at the Pony Owners Charity Show. I refer you to the article in the Farmer's Journal explaining the reasons why the National Competition Committee resigned, one reason given was the fact that two of the country's largest shows the National Championships and Millstreet are coinciding with each other.

For any further information relating to the dispute check out our website http://www.millstreethorseshow.ie/news/default.html

It beggars belief that such big shows are allowed to clash, Millstreet has been an institution for many years, best of luck with it.

Is the equestrian forum really so busy that everything needs to be moved into a sticky?

I hate stickies. Its much easier to see whats going on if they have their own thread.

We've had issues in the past with one-post wonders just spamming the forum with upcoming events, so it was decided that a sticky would be the best idea
would be to have a sticky for this type of posting.

Moroever, there are a number of reasons why the posts regarding the Millstreet Horse Show were moved here. These include the fact that it's required by the Charte, not to mention the fact that the poster advertising the Millstreet Show clearly signed up for the sole reason of promoting the event, which is against the terms and conditions of boards.ie. If Admins or CMods came across such posts, it is highly likely that they would be deleted, so it was decided to move the posts to the sticky rather than risk them being delted.
I hate stickies. Its much easier to see whats going on if they have their own thread.

Actually, the number of stickies has been reduced in the last number of months.

Mod hat on: If anybody has any queries regarding anything, could they please PM a mod rather than posting in a thread? Thanks.

Below is a copy of the flyer - in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Association

(A night with Tom and Jack)
There is a very interesting night in store for all that attend Kill International, on Monday July 26th at 7.30.
Seam us Casey is hosting a night, as a fundraiser, for the Irish Wheelchair Association, that will be most informative to, all that have an interest, in any aspect of Showjumping.
Speakers on the night will be Tom Holden International Showjumping Course Designer and International Show jumper and leading Trainer Jack Doyle.
Tom will analyse and discuss a pre built course from a Course designer's aspect while Jack will walk and discuss --the-course from-a Rider/Trainer's viewpoint.
Part of the night will be spent discussing and demonstrating how to interpret Showjumping courses.
This event will not be on a lecture basis, all who attend will be on the course with Tom and Jack.
This will be a most informative night that should appeal to all, whether involved with horses at a professional or amateur level or involved in ponies as a rider, parent or trainer, so come along to this most informative night that is supporting a very worthy cause. -
Admission is by a donation of €10 per adult, €5 per persons under 16 while a family donation of €20 will apply.
Seamus would like to thank Kill International for their kind generosity in making the Centre available free of charge for this night.
Tom and Jack are kindly donating their time free of charge.

The SJI has stated that any competitor or official participating at the Millstreet show who are members of the SJI will be disciplined as the Millstreet show is unaffiliated. Seems like the battle is about heat up
