Admittedly the car is priced high, but then again if you wanted one of these, could you find a cheaper one? Or even another of same spec?

But the quoted text really grinds my gears. You base the dreamer-ness solely on the year of first registration. Cos that's all that there is to it, its a 10 year old corolla

Admittedly, you'd probably have to go to the North/UK if you wanted another Compressor. Similar spec/age/miles can be bought in the UK for around €4000. Of course there's the cost of importing etc, but surely there's not a hope that Rolla is worth €8.5k?

And yeah, it's a ten year old Corolla. It's a Compressor and it's got savage spec, but it's still a Corolla. If I'd 8.5k and wanted something quick/sporty/whatever I'd be hoping to do better :p If it's anything like an Altezza then silver doesn't work in its favour either.

Those supercharged ones are rare as fook in a 3 door. (If I remember right? Or else they're all 3 door!)

They only come in 3 door afaik, 02-04 T-Sports were available in 4 door or so I'm told :)

Call me out on this if I'm wrong...but is €1600 for a 1.4 Civic needing a new engine not a bit much? It has a few nice bits on it granted..but still

I was just saying to myself how could it be a ek4 if it was a 1.4 engine then read the full description. Who would convert a 1.6 vtec to a 1.4i, madness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,074 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

Wasn't that icetronix place converting Integras and stuff to 1.4s in the past?

For insurance reasons. I know a girl who had a red Integra Type R with a 1.4 (or possibly a standard 1.6) engine it and it came from Icetronix originally

It's far from worthless tbf but he's going about it the completely wrong way if he's looking to make back any sorta reasonable sum of money.

    It needs to be either:
    broke

have some sort of a properly running d-series thrown into it or somehow get it through the test with the smokey one (few decades of the Rosary be grand).

    or
convert it back to a b-series.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

If you can fond me one currently for sale anywhere in the world for less than 8.5k I will honestly be very very impressed.

There's one in the uk for £3700 AFAIK. I checked at lunchtime!

    Few here
    (Not all compressors)
    http://www.newsnow.co.uk/classifieds/cars-vans-for-sale/toyota-corolla-compressor.html

Stick on VRT and exchange rate on a £5k uk one and you won't be far off.

Edit, one for £3400 there too in a better colour.

That one in limerick had been on sale for ages.

The front door and wing are from a car of a different colour.

    €5300 in the UK

    €4300 in the UK

Not a current figure, but it's also worth mentioning there were two for sale on the CCUK Facebook page advertised at €4400/4500 last year.

Of course you'd have to add extra charges on to importing those, but he's dreaming if he thinks someone will pay €8.5k for it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,701 ✭✭✭Cheensbo

You wouldn't be too far off 8.5k on those once you got them here though - pre purchase inspection, vrt, nct, ferry/transport/temporary tax, fuel, food & your own time etc.

Not to mention it's a dealer selling it, bit of dealer price loading & possibly some warranty there too I guess.

It's not cheap, but it's not winner of dreamer of the year either, not by a longshot.

A low milage minter at that money wouldn't shock me, not with some recent results for low milage minter examples of the original species hot hatches. But that one isn't a minter.

Love it very clean before accident.

Car is cut in half but was perfect before that little tiny issue.

Also looks like photos were taken off a computer screen.
