@rottenhat - Itsfixed's old bike is the same colour as yours too (although now TinyExplosions owns it)

And I love it -best bike ever!

Also tempted by the leg shaving. But my legs are neither tanned enough nor big enough to make it look good :)

Do it -your legs will instantly look better when shaved!

My new Xacobeo jersey and bib shorts arrived today. I guess it would be a bad idea to try out a new pair of shorts for the spin?

I would be of the opinion that you should go with the shorts that you have taken on the longest spin so far. I was tempted to wear my campag shorts, decided that my DHB shorts were a safer bet as I have worn them on a lot of long spins and they have taken care of me...downstairs.

Just wondering from those in the know what kinda gear they'll be wearing bringing. Was thinking bib shorts (maybe 2cx comp tights under) base layer under short sleeved jersey, no overshoes. In light of the predicted conditions is this ok? really dont feel like wearing any of the winter gear!

Given that it shouldn't be that cold, I'll probably just add arm warmers and shoe covers to the mix.

    No idea what to wear.

Cold and wet, then white Rapha gilet, black jersey, white armwarmers, 3/4 lengths bibshorts, overshoes, cap and shades.

Mild and wet, gilet, black jersey, rapha bib shorts, overshoes, cap and shades.

The great thing about Rapha, is that the colours (white and black) match my bike. I think that is kind of important. However, the jerseys are really only suitable for below 15 degrees. Above that they get way to hot.

Warm and dry: Blue campag shorts and either white Xacabeo jersey or pink Giro jersey.
My only problem with the pink Giro jersey is that I have worn it twice and had 4 punctures, so it looks great and is really comfy in the heat, but has not been lucky.

I have spent more time thinking about what to wear than actually training.

@rottenhat. Don't tell me your bike is a dark green Thorn Audax Mk3 with a honey b17? This will be like two girls turning up at a party wearing the same M&S dress.

No, it's a mid-green Rivendell with a honey B-17. I'll still be avoiding you like the plague in case meeting results in a huge matter/anti-matter implosion. just to be on the safe side.

SS jersey, gilet, shorts, socks, shoes. It's June FFS.

If it rains I'll get wet. If I get too cold I'll pedal harder. If I bonk I'll throw my bike in a ditch and go to the nearest pub.

Has Time Cop taught you nothing? You will both merge and dissolve into a pile of disguting goo. Just try not to get any on my white booties or in my hair :)

Does anyone know if the Clonskeagh entrance to UCD will be open as early as 6.30/7? I'm coming from Kilmainham and would prefer not to have to go all the way round to the Belfield gate.

I wouldn't, besides the issue with trying something new I am not sure the team replica shorts will be anywhere near as good as your best shorts (you have a pair of Assos, right?)

I don't have any team replica shorts myself but certainly my good Descente shorts, and indeed even my second from best Descente shorts, are a hell of a lot better than my Boards shorts or club kit shorts- especially over long distance. (I did it in Boards shorts last year and it was fine but I would certainly be more comfortable in my Descente ones.)

I think the pack said that it opens at 7, but that's when we're due to be off. I'll be using the N11 entrance myself anyway.

Thanks. It makes sense. I do have assos, but actually find the Campag shorts more comfy (plus they were only something like £45 on a wiggle special).
If it is cold I wear rapha, because even their shorts are thicker material, and the pad is very good.

If you're cycling, then you can get in that way. I don't think it will be open to car traffic though.

You could ring services, but they are useless most of the time anyway. I think you are better off using the main entrance, there will be much more parking available so you can use the O'Reilly or engineering car parks and just cycle down to the sports center.

Cheers but I'm cycling there, rather than driving. (Getting a lift home, though - oh yes.)

Also: rflynnr and I won't be registering until 7 so I can't see us being out on the road before 7.30. Would like to be there for a group photo but we probably won't make it.

Apologies if this has been covered before somewhere in this very long thread - but are we getting food on this ride? By food, I mean not Powerade bars. I thought we were getting sandwiches at the food stop but then got a mail from w200 Admin telling me to bring sandwiches myself.

2 food stops - Donard and Rathdrum. I expect these will be sambos, bananas, cake and the like. They recommend that you take your own too because that won't be enough to get you over a whole day. I'm taking a pile of bananas and fruit cake myself and stocking up on sambos at the stops.

There's a few water stops along the way which, I'd imagine, will be just that.

Last year there was a sign which said "One sandwich per person" in Donard. The year before it was only bars at each station. I would definitely either bring food or buy it en route.

My training for the W100 has gone nicely. After an eleven month break since last year's W200 I've done about 150 km total training, half of that this week.

I'm sure only about 2000 other people will have that sneaky idea. It will be WW200 2010 before you get your sangich.

This explains why my local Spar is out of fig roll bars, panic buying evidently.

Yeah, imagine those lovable stoners confronted with 200 hungry cyclists. They'd run screaming.

Just in case people don't throw the odd eye over the forum on the official WW200 site.
Aidan Hammond here. I will be on top of Slieve Maan giving out PowerBar Performance Sports drinks in 2 flavours. Also we will have Gels and Ride Shots.
Please Riders note that this is an Energy Drink stop and NOT A WATER STOP. Thanks a million and see you all Sunday.

Wouldn't want to plan your next water fill at SM for your own energy drink supplements.

Well a big GOOD LUCK to all of you doing the WW100/200.
I'm off on my holiers to Portugal at 6 in the morning, I can't wait but a bit of me really wants to stay and do the 200 :)

Looking forward to the stories & pictures

    @Everyone;

The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital's centre for lung health, is doing a HUGE fund raising event during the W100/200. Just picked up my jersey today and I really really like the look of it.

Apparently there's over a 100 with the jersey's planned to be there on the day, with most of those riders doing the W100 and a small number doing the W200.

Just thought ye like to know what was with all the pink lung jerseys

Sorry about the huge image file I've only the camera phone to work with at the moment.

Good to know that...so where are there water stops then? Any chance of getting water at the pub at the foot of the Shay Elliot?

@72Hundred: those jerseys look lovely alright though, not being smart, does the cost of them not eat into the profits of the fund raising effort or did they get a great deal on the jerseys? Good luck with it either way.
