You can ride along (roads are public afterall), you just won't be able to use the food stops.

Or draft anyone who is wearing a number. They check for that.

I'd enter or get an entry someone isn't using if you can, if you can't I wouldn't worry about cycling it anyway, there are plenty of shops on route where you can buy food. There is also a water tap in Laragh at Glendalough Fayre.

Could someone mark the spot of this mythical tap on a map for me ... there were a couple of times especially on good friday and christmas when I was looking for this when shops were closed .... but couldn't find it.

In laragh. as you come down from glenmacnass. There's a triangle of grass in the middle of the road, some sort of well in the middle of this. there's a shop on your left. There's a tap above a trough to the left of the shop, beside a gate where the toiles are.

Aaah .. so its near the organic shop with the 2 day lead time sandwiches ... I never went near it as it was closed both days .. and never needed the tap when the shop was open

2 day lead time sandwiches, that's the one :) It is right by the gate that leads to their toilet.

You see, the problem here is that no one orders the very tasty ones that are already sitting there. Everyone wants their own bespoke sandwich freshly made. Sure the ready made ones might be there a while, but so are the rest of the ingredients. Anyway, as every cyclists knows, even the cardboard wrapping on a box of Jaffa Cakes tastes amazing if you have gone hard enough over the Sally Gap. And the ready made ones are delicious anyway :)

I love that café. It's so chilled and organic that I contemplated moving to the country, for a minute.

There's a kiwi guy in there. In New Zealand thats how we do Cafe's. As for the 2 day lead time that shouldn't worry you guy as you all enjoy the breaks.

Kit-Kat Darks are aparently good. Raam, LDB do you agree?

Number 941. You can tell I rushed my entry off in January.

Pleased with the number this year. Much sturdier.

Has anyone had any luck or positive reply from the admin email/organisers of the Wicklow 200 in relation to late entries? I haven't even heard a word back from them. If not, I will be sending off the entry form tomorrow and insisting that it is on time due to the closing date being written on the form as 22nd of May for "normal entry'" which I presume is postal entry. They surely cannot turn this down provided it arrives before the 22nd! :D

The one thing I didn't want was a number that added up to 13. I crashed and wrote off the family car many years ago. The number, 742, added up to 13 and the car was black..

Ever since I have been superstitious around the combination.

What did I get for Wicklow..? 634  What colour is my bike..? Black

Time to break this superstition I suppose..!!!!

A solid 809 here. Can't go wrong with that really. It says, "yeah, I signed up, but I'm not boasting about it."

@Home:Ballyhoura- send in the form with a cheque, I doubt those poor hungry vets will turn down your €42 :)

With say 1800 people doing the event, the funds total almost 70k (assuming a certain percentage loss due to credit card processing) Since one of the food stops is sponsored already, they must be clearing a fair bit for the event.

There is generally a bit of grousing about this each year; there are other costs in there besides the likes of the food (I imagine insurance features) but at the end of the day it is a fundraiser for the IVCA. I don't begrudge them it if they run a good event and they do seem to be listening and getting better at the organisation. Hopefully it will be a good one again this year.

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and the number of the Garmin; and this number is Seven Hundred and Five.

    Yeah baby, I got 705!

Yeah - got mine too last night. 731!

Sorry if it came across like that, not what I meant at all. I know a chunk of it goes to cover day membership of the IVCA, costs for whatever cars they have patrolling to route to pick up people, costs for the Garda, private ambulance etc. My point was that the additional 42Euro some people may send in now should be mostly profit for the event. If they weren't breaking even by around the 1000 to 1200 mark, someone did the maths wrong.
