Spar Recession ad

I wasnt sure wheter to put this in the tv, AH or politics forum but as there are some recession threads here I thought this would be the best home for it.

Anyway have any of you seen the SPAR ad on tv for the €1 sandwiches (among other offers)? Is the persons voice on the ad meant to be somebody taking off Bertie Ahern? If it is I am well p**sed off. That man has just about bankrupted the country (along with Biffo) and now we have a Bertie soundalike telling us about recession offers. I know in the scheme of things it is probably not high in peoples list of things to be annoyed about but just thought I would rant about it.

Ah the offer itself is great. Its just the fact that it meant to be Bertie telling us about it that annoys me

    Jaysus. it'a bad impersonation.

Even Bertie is hit by the Recession. No more dig outs in Manchester Restaurants.

They had one with Haughey in it for a while. It was far better than the Bertie impression. Reminiscent of Dermot Morgan's Haughey.

We should write a new add:

"I'm Eddie Hobbs and thanks to this recession I'm fucking broke. I've lost all my property and my bank accounts are all in minus figures. But luckily enough I can get a sandwich for €1 under the tree at Spar."

Not on your life - do you know how much a feckin' swan costs these days? They're not cheap let me tell yous.

In my day though you could get 2 swans and a bag of Bullseyes for 2 and 6 pence. Ah them were the days alright!

Off to Hazelbrook farm I'd go and Granddad would say "Ah son you'll be quicker on your own. But bring me back some raspberry ripple or I'll beat you senseless!"

Last time Spar had one of these recession offers just before Xmas they were doing a Twirl and a Crunchie for €1. I bought both of them for €1 in the Spar in Nassau St, D2 and the next day went in for more. They had gone and jacked up the price to €1.50, I guess they had decided there wasn't a recession on after all and would instead sell them at 8c less than they normally would be. Chancers, they've been ripping us off for years and then they even go and rip people off on their supposed 'special offers'

I thought it sounded like Dustin the Turkey doing an impression of Bertie.

Their €1 pack of bananas isn't bad.

AFAIK, it's the guy (from Monaghan, I think) who does the skit show on the radio that isn't Gift Grub. Or something.

Id take Bertie back in a heartbeat, crooked or not he was a smart lad, he was respected by other world leaders for the things he did and they seemed to like his character. Id rather see him represent us on the world stage than some of the other fools in government.
All this bashing of fianna fail gets old, im no fan of them but I don't ever want to see that tosser Kenny running the country, their not an option till they get a new party leader
