Again if there are any requests for chip counts put them up here and myself and Adam will try and get to them as soon as we can.
The tournament got underway with 210 players but there are still players arriving-its hard to estimate the final numbers and entries are going to be accepted until the end of level 5.

Two hands into the main event and Damien Kent is gone.
We have a clear chip leader, however his identity remains a mystery as he has departed to the bar for a few pints!

Damien can feel a little aggrieved after flopping middle set with QQ. All the money found its way into the middle on a jack turn with the board reading A Q 6 J. His opponent had K10 which stayed ahead when the board failed to pair on the river.

Graham Masters, who was involved in the opening event chop for 3500, has ran out of luck on day two of the festival.
He turned trips and rivered a staright which was to prove his downfall as his opponent had filled up on the turn. A good weekend none the less, one he hopes to improve with a cash in tomorrows events!

Lads if ye could keep an eye on Robbie Power from Waterford it would be much appreciated.

Never rely on public transport. That's what I learned on my wayward trip up to Dublin from Waterford. It all started at 1pm when I hopped on a bus that apparently stopped at Newlands Cross. It didn't. I found myself veering off into the City Centre and left waiting for the Luas when the bus finally stopped at Heuston.

I then horribly underestimated the distance between the Red Cow and Newlands Cross, opting to walk it until the last momemnt when I spotted an empty taxi. One hundred yards up the road and here I am! I kid you not, I paid for a taxi to go 100 yards having already walked 99% of the way.

    At least I'm here anyway.

    A few notables

    Recent tournament convert Digiman 30k

PP Special Dave Maters down to 5k. He assures me he will have over 100k in a matter of hours.

Donal "Doco" up to over 28k-reaping the rewards of running a poker training site perhaps!

    Albert Kenny 15k

Despite arriving fashionably late "Rag2gar" Gary Clarke has managed to accumulate over 26k.

Waterford native Adammm is hunting for Robbie as we speak! When I asked what Robbie looked look he barely stiffled his sniggers, and answered "like Nicky obvioulsy!"

    A few more chip counts

Andy Grimason was playing every hand until the rugby came on, he now is doing his best Harold Hubberman impersonation! He has 18k.

    Donal Norton has 24k.

Willow is playing her usual steady game and has 24k.

"Big Al" Alan Kelleher is looking for another deep run and has over 36k already.

Spencer James is up to over 30k. He is sat directly to the left of good freind and regular Sporting Emporium cash game sparring partner, Thomas Kitt. "Owning his soul" .
    Allegedly!

any mention of kevin mcconville from kildare

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

"Big City Banker" Noel Hayes arrived late and has been knocked out early.
He got his chips in a decent shape with AA v AK but was unable to hold. His last 7k went in with AK v QQ and he couldn't connect.
He was last seen declaring war on the cash tables. He may or may not be on tilt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭AdMMM

Donal Norton was just facing a 3000 river bet when the Ace hearts falls, four flushing the board. He thinks and raises it to 7000. His opponent folds and Donal shows AK, having hit hit ace on the river but with no heart in his hand.

Blinds are 150/300 with a running ante of 25.

    A car crash

I just witnessed a total car crash hand involving none other than Roy Brindley. With the board reading 9c8dJd7, there were three all-ins!

One players T7 was dead in the water to his neighbours QT but Roy "The Boy" was well in the mix with 6dTd. The ace of diamonds fell on the river and the Roy is now sitting on around 50k chips!

Meanwhile, Sideshow Bob is cruising on 45k. It wasn't all clean cut for the Cork man who told me of a hand that involved him bluffing with the best hand - 93o.

Pat Storan has less than 15k.

Roy "The Boy" Brindley was just on the wrong end of an AA v KK confrontation which has seen Mark Holland join the early pace setters with over 70k.

I wasn't aware that Tom had a soul - thought he'd sold it some time ago to get a buyin together. Gl to both lads though :D

186 players remain as we enter our first break. The average stack is 26k. The players return to a running ante of 50 and blinds at 250-500.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭AdMMM

We'll be putting up chip counts of all remaining players in the next 10 minutes. But I can tell you now that Pat Storan, George Power and Kevin Kehoe are all sat at the same table. Pat's on 18k, George 10.5k and Kev has luck boxed his way to 28k... as usual.

    Stealing the Antes.

Eoin X (I can't read his second name) has at least 70% of all the 25 chips on his table. With 58k, he can afford to be aggressive and steal, steal, steal.

Players are now on a break.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

Troy Prendergast bet his remaining 9k chips on the river. He shook his head slowly and got up to leave when his opponent snapcalled him.
Troy had triple barreled the proverbial bag of spanners which had turned into second pair on a flush/straight board. He was let off the hook however as his opponent has misread his hand and held ace high instead of the nut flush.
    Troy now has 43k.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

Jemma Walsh is up to over 70k. She has had AA three times so far. The first two pots were small but that lack of action was long forgotten when on the third occassion she found her opponent holding KK. The board did not change either hand and Jemma was left arranging an imposing stack of chips.

Roy The Boy has just been knocked out. Despite running away with the chiplead near the start of the tournament, as reported he made the age old mistake of running Aces into Kings but he then went on to make a grave error, running his Queens into a confident opponent who was holding 99.

The board comes A9626 and Roy loses another 50k pot! While it had all been swings and roundabouts for Roy "The Boy" up to this stage, this hand sees him being flung into the air and landing face first into the dirt!

    In short, Roy's gone!

    Some chip counts

    Vera Duffy 22k

    Dara O'Kearney 12k

    Mark Holland 76k

    Sylvester Geoghegan 24k

    Willie Clynes "Yuleturid" 30k

    Conor Bloomfield "Conbro" 23k

    Kevin Kehoe 28k

Sarah Smith, of Jackpot fame has had many a battle with Eoin Mullin regarding over zealous speech play,
this time she faces it at the table as a player!
Sarah is stuck on the starting stack of 20k while Eoin directly to her left has over 60k.

    Some more chip counts

Oz Osbourne, winner of over 5000 euro last night in the 150 game is going well again with over 38k.

Sideshow Bob is one of the chip leaders with touching on 100k. There is no doubt the man can accumulate some chips!

"The Metal Man" Tadhg O'Mahoney is hanging in there but will need to find a hand soon as he has only 11k left.

    The Ace From Space

Pat Mitchell was in a bit of trouble preflop when his AJ was up against his opponents AA. Although he had him covered, it was still a fair % of his stack in there. The flop came JQ7, allowing some light to shine in through the end of the tunnel. A Jack on the turn meant that the tables had turned and Pat was now only sweating one card in the deck, the case ace!

There wasn't many places it could come from, but straight from space it came and Pat must be left thinking live poker is rigged!

    Donal Norton gone

Donal Norton raises his button, playing a stack of about 18k, with blinds at 400/800. Pat Mitchell pushes from the SB. Donal calls with KdTd and Pat shows 99. The flop comes 8d2d2c, meaning Pat really has to sweat the turn and river, dodging any king, ten or diamond! Somehow they both brick and we say goodbye to the best tournament player in Ireland (according to Irish Open 2008 placings)

Gary Clarke is making sure to keep his head above the water after dispaching a player in a dream situation from the BB.

UTG limps and gets a few flat callers, Gary wakes raises in what looks like a standard squeeze. UTG then pushes and it's folded around to Gary who calls with QQ. His opponent has 55 and the board bricks.

Gary is now motoring with over 75k
