That's rough Peckham, at least you know what you've got. Hope you get over it soon.

Have taken it easy this week given that I missed a week last week. Objective is to get to 30-33 miles for the week, with nothing too intense. Am running the half marathon on Saturday, but not going PB-hunting and will stick to a (relatively) comfortable pace.

Enjoy the relatively comfortable runout tomorrow. i ll be doing the same, going to use it as a 16mile run. let me know if you fancy a run monday or wednesday of next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭Peckham

Thanks kennyb3. Hopefully see you tomorrow.

Weekends only really suit me for a trip to Malahide. How are you set for next weekend? Could maybe do something then.

    Dublin half marathon
Great event, very well organised, and a fantastic course.

Plan for today was to go out and enjoy myself, trying to keep on around 90 min pace. Was nice and relaxed at the start and didn't get caught up in the mad gallop from the gun. Think that served me well as pace through the first mile was 6:40 so only about 10 secs quicker than target (normally for me, and many of us, first mile is about 30secs faster than it should be). Settled into a nice routine, meeting up with christeb at around the first mile marker, and sticking near him up to about 6 mile point.

A pretty non-eventful race, as I just kept churning out the miles at a pretty consistent pace. Only mild-drama was missing the final water station as someone cut in between me and the people handing out the water, meaning I couldn't stretch to get a cup (he got two cups ). Was feeling very strong towards the end and gave me the opportunity to put in a bit of a surge towards the end. About a mile and a half out, I saw a former clubmate and jlang about 20 metres ahead of me and made both of them my targets (;)), passing both of them at the same time, and clocking a 6:15 final mile. Crossed the line in 1:28.

Roll on Novice XC in two weeks......

Good to meet you too....although I'll admit now to not being able to hear you over the race announcer when you said who you were! Glad that clears it up.

Will focus on XC and short races up until Christmas, then it's an assault on London in April.

Steady week, nothing spectacular (although it's my first week going over 40 miles in quite a while - 41.5 to be exact). Legs were a little tired at start of week from the half marathon.

Have we announced a target for DCM Mr Peckham? sub 3 I hope!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭Peckham

Not doing DCM this year. Any sub-3 attempt will have to wait until London next April, but a long time to go before planning starts for that.
