Yes you could, especially at your starting weight. You could even lose a little more.

Go to the class and sign up. Then follow the plan strictly, eating loads of fruit and veg and wholefoods, and exercise every day. In 7 weeks you are pretty much guaranteed a stone and perhaps a few pounds extra.

Remember to factor in that your dress might need to be taken in the week before.

Ha! I dont think my dress quite fits at the moment :o If and Im saying if I was to loose a stone would that be many inches off?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,184 ✭✭✭neuro-praxis

That just depends on your body - you couldn't predict where the weight will go first. For example, you might lose several inches from your thighs, which makes no difference to your dress size. Get a last fitting one week before the wedding - and warn your dressmaker!

Now get your arse to the gym!

I few things Im wondering about, what bread can I use if I was to make a sandwich? What about alcohol, I like Bulmers light? Also what about exercise do I need to do much of it?

I have a fear this wont work so I Really hope this helps my weight loss I want to lose a stone and a half to be back to a normal weight

Hi Depuy lady, If your questions have all ready been answered ignour me. On the subject of bread one slice of normal white/brown pan loaf is 1.5 points however 2 slices for some reason is 2.5 points. You can get two types of weight watchers bread the first which is really thin is 2 slices for 1 point its grand if you toast it but i suggest leaving it in the freezer and take out a slice or two as you need it, it only takes a few mins to defrost and the best before date is never very long on it. The other time is called "thick" and believe me it isnt its a point a slice so your really better of either with the 1 point for 2 slices or normal bread. Bulmers light is the same amount of points as a short which is 1.5 points, we got a hand out from the leader last week and it gave all drink and points and beside bulmers light and beer light it said to count 3 bottles as 4 points which is pretty great. Im heading on hoildays on the 21st I always drink vodka & diet coke however with the measures been so much greather in spain im trying to get used of bulmers light so i can drink it over there. hope this helps..; good luck:)

This is because of rounding. 1 slice might be 1.3points, and so rounded to 1.5, then 2 would be 2.6 and rounded to 2.5. For this reason you should try and work off the real portions you eat/drink.

    http://www.bulmers.ie/about-us/faqs.asp
92kcal per bottle of bulmers light. There will be no fat in that so using
    http://points.ogo.ms/
is 1.5points. Now type in 920 and you get 13, so really a bottle is 1.3 points, this might make a difference if you are a big drinker.
Bulmers Light Contains 7% less calories than the leading light beer on the Irish market.
That is interesting, I presume they mean coors light, which is also only 4.3% while bulmers is 4.5%.

Buying bottles in general is a rip off, dunno if they have bulmers light on draught.

WW bread is not really much different than any other, also I have seen they do white sliced pans, I see this a lot on "healthy" branded products, they might be low cal, usually more likely to be just low portions quoted, but they all use crap white processed flour/rice/pasta. WW frozen meals are usually smaller than other brands, and so low in cals/points since they are just smaller.

Ladies can I ask some advice please?? Ive been dabbling in every diet imaginable for the past 6 months and havent dont anything properly so hence Im still the same weight. Im getting married now in 7 weeks. Could I loose a stone in 7 weeks with WW? Im about 15 stone 10 at the moment so really overweight. Could kick myself for not loosing it for the wedding!!

As everyone else has said . Yes. In 7 weeks its very do-able. If you also add in exercise every day, you will be amazed how toned you get and how soon (3 wks) you can notice the difference. My weight loss has been horrendous compared to others here (down a pound up a pound, no change), but I have dropped 2 dress sizes !!! Its only because of the wonderful caring people here I have stuck it out, normally I fall off the wagon after a few weeks.

Best of luck. Believe in yourself and use this facility. :pac:

    Hi all,

Hope everyone is having a good week.

My week is going really bad, just want to cry. Have been really stressed out over the lst few weeks with mum so ill, but went back to WW last thur and was up almost 11 lbs. Was not happy but put it behind me. On saturday we went to the Bruce Springsteen concert (I an crazy about his music) anyway we waited in line for hours in the pouring rain and got into the pit abouot 10 feet from the stage, all was great until 4 very drunk guys pushed there way in and started causing hell for everyone around them, But they took it as there nights mission to make my life hell. calling me a big fat cow, that if I moved out 40 more could get in and those are the nice comments....I was so hurt, it took everything not to cry. My husband was gone to the loo (and maybe it was just as well as he would have lost it with them) After about 15 mins I cold not take anymore and moved way back. I just cant seen to get it out of my head and feel so down. I didnt tell my husband as I just couldnt talk and would have just cryed for the rest of the concert. Later that night my wonderful husband surprised me with tickets to the sunday night gig. This time with seated tickets but I was so worried that someone would have a pop at me again. I told my husband last night what had happened and he was great but I just feel so awful now.
Has anything like this happened to any of you and if so how did you deal with it?
    I am 17 stone 10lb, 5ft9in 36 year old woman.

Oh Caroline, I'm not sure what to say only that there are some really horrible people out there. I know it must be so upsetting to listen to that bull. Try not to focus on it, focus on what u are doing to make u feel better. U are lucky to have a lovely husband and together with him u can achieve anything!!!!!:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 696 ✭✭✭coconut5

Hey Caroline, those guys are idiots, and you should forget about it.

People make comments about things all the time, and it's better that it's something you can do something about, not having a big nose or a cross eye or something! Think about that. And also, I think if you feel you are eating well and exercising and living your life the way you want to, all those comments disappear and you can focus on how great you are for working toward your goals. And who gives a **** what some stranger thinks! It only matters what you think about yourself Caroline, and that should be all positive things. You're making all the right changes, and you're doing really well! :) Don't let some drunken fool get you down. You owe yourself more than that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,184 ✭✭✭neuro-praxis

Caroline I am so sorry you had to experience such abuse. I've had one similar experience - I know how badly it can sting. On a hot summer's day several years ago, I decided to take a deep breath and take off my cardigan. I am 5'11" and weighed about 15 stone at the time (much lighter than at my heaviest). I was wearing a string top and a long skirt. The moment I removed my cardigan, two young men cycled past and yelled "fat b|tch!" at me. I put my cardigan back on and gradually emotionally ate my way to gaining a few more stone.

Don't do what I did. Hold your head high and continue with your weight loss. Be glad of your body and who you are - it's all you've got. The bad feelings from this abuse will fade with time, I promise you.

    Hi Caroline,

My heart goes out to you after what happened the other night. I had an incident happen a while ago with a friend of my parents who I hadn't seen in years. I walked into the room, with loads of family and friends present, and he just blurted out "What happened to you? You used to be such a skinny whippet of a thing". I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me up there and then. I was absolutely dying with embarrassment and just wanted to run out of the room crying. Everybody was cringing, his wife gave him a dig, and I think that made it even worse, having everyone feeling sorry for me.

I should have turned around and told him where to go, but unfortunately I was raised to be polite, he blatantly wasn't.

It's a horrible thing to have to get your head around, and it's really difficult to not let it get to you but what you need to try to do is turn it around so that it becomes a motivator to you. It's what I did and it's working. I told myself that nobody would ever have reason to say anything that horrible and nasty to me again.

These people are mindless idiots and karma will come and bite them in the arse when they least expect it. You, on the other hand, will be living a perfect, happy life with your lovely husband, looking and feeling absolutely fantastic so you'll be the one who has the last laugh.

I really dont know what to say to you except that the world is full of idiots like that and though its hard you just have to try to put it out of your head and focus on yourself, you can lose your weight but they will always be idiots at the end of the day ;) like others have said what goes around comes around and it will bite them in the ass soon enough:D chin up for the rest of the week and good luck!!

It feels like this weight loss is going so slowly! Maybe I'm just having a fat day but it feels like i go to WW one week and I've lost a pound ... i know its a pound but it's going to take me a year and a half to get to my ideal weight :(

sorry rant over! Guess we have days like this!

Yeah, but imagine how great you'll feel even with 8 pounds off! It seems like a long time, but it's really not. :)

Thanks so much for your support girls. I know it sounds awful but I feel loads better knowing I am not the only one who this has happened to. Some really sad and nasty people in the world.... I hope they get a spoon from there own bottle soon. I will never understand why someone would want to hurt anyones feeling.

Really going to put my head down and lose the weight (just for me)

I dont know what I wold do without this thread.

    hi caroline,

had to reply to your post.

ive come across morons like these too.

last year, when i weighed almost 20 stone (and am 5 ft 4), one day i was walking towards croke park wearing my county jersey (never flattering, even on skinny women!)

anyway, 3 separate groups of lads jeered me.

the first started shouting "here's corks biggest suppporter" and making wide gestures with their arms

the second was a lad who came up behind em, grabbed my ass and said "thats fu**ing massive"

and teh last was a fella who smacked my ass and made some comment about me being "some size for a woman"

it was all incredibly hurtful, and there were tears that night

but i did something constructive from it - i used it as part of the motivation to join ww and finally tackle my weight.

its not the only thing motivating me, but its one of them.

i recently tried on last years jersey, and its swimming on the (relatively) smaller me (am now 15 st 5)

i take pride in teh fact that i will one day be slim, whereas those guys will be assholes forever.

    chip up girl!

    Hello 2 every1
I havent been on in about 5 weeks so though id drop in. I fell off d wagon for 3 weeks and put on 5 lbs. So i rejoined 2 weeks ago because I dont want to put d weight ive lost back on. I lost 4 of d 5 lbs last week n Im hopin to be down this week, heres hopin :)

Anyways first of all Carolinespring so sorry to hear of that horrible experience. People can be cruel especially men wen it involves pokin fun at d fat lady. Dont let the arseholes bring you down. Chin up. Ive had an experience or two like that myself n u shud just use it as some motivation in ur weight loss journey.

And starflake try not to focus on how long u think it will take you 2 lose ur weight. This can become overbearin and begin to have an affect on your weight loss. Try to focus on smaller goals like 4-5 lbs or 4-5 weeks at a time. Thrust me i know casue i was like that for a good while. I was devastated last november when i tipped the scales at 18st!! even bigger then wen I was pregnant with a 10lb baby, the heaviest I ever was. for me to be a healthy weight i would have to lose over 7 stone. So i was focusin on how long it would take me, it could take a few years. I was secretly freaking out!! ive lost just 2 stone since november but I know if I stopped stressin over how long it will take i may have lost some more. So wen i rejoined 2 weeks ago I decided to take it every 5 weeks or 7 lbs at a time. This way it seems so much smaller and Im not stressin at how long its taken me. Im annoyed i didn realise it earlier.

Have WI 2mo n i dunno what to expect :D
    Goodluck 2 every1 at WI

Hopefully sum of us wil be happy ;)

You will notice a pattern in all this. They are always drinking and in groups of 2 or more. These assholes would never have the balls to say this while sober or on their own. It is gobsh!tes thinking they are "mad lads" showing off in front of their mates, and not realising how upsetting they really are.
    journey wrote: »

In this case he is probably simply obliviously insensitive, many lads are and esp. when it comes to weight, when out with mates they will be always slagging each other about bellies, it is a "lads thing", and some forget how relatively badly women could take it.

Some women are the same, a mate of mine had his mothers mate make very similar comments to the ones above, and I bet she would never have said the same if he was female.

I used to occasionally get from relatives, "What happened to you? You used to be so lovely-looking..." etc.

    PUKE!

And no matter where you turn on boards.ie (present forum excluded) people swear blind that everyone tip-toes around obesity and fat people never get told they are fat.

Hi there,Im a long time lurker here, need to do something about my

weight, I attempted to join ww a few months ago here in Virginia but to

be honest I wasnt really crazy about the leader.. Does anyone go to

in Kells or Navan that are impressed with their leader? I do think half the

battle is finding a leader that is good and encouraging, which the one I

went to wasnt, I felt she had her own little 'clique' and no interest in anyone else!

    Hi all

I would say its been about a year since I posted here and while I havent put on huge amounts on weight I've gotten to the point where my clothes are very uncomfortable to wear sometimes. Im doing a lot of exercise these days but for the last 6 weeks I've put a lb on each week. My eating is out of control. So I decided to start WW again (for the millionth time!). Im going to do it at home for now but will join a meeting if Im getting nowhere.

Started counting points today. Had some hairy moments where the cravings for chocolate were awful but I drank some diet coke and got through it. I think I'll be going to bed early to avoid my late night junk food bingeing habit.

    Hi everyone,

I had my weigh in tonight and much to my surprise and delight I was down another 4lbs. I nearly fell off the scales in shock :D I was hoping for a pound or 2 but really wasn't expecting this big a loss as I found it difficult to stick to my points this week and ended up eating a good few of my exercise points. But I suppose I did extra exercise towards the end of the week to make up for eating the exercise points earlier in the week so it looks like it paid off.

18lbs gone now and only 23 more to get to goal (or I might go 24 so that I get my third stone).

112togo - that's an amazing weight loss. You must feel fantastic.
Shellybelly08 - You must be so happy to be so close to goal. I can't wait to be in your position!

Hoping to get my 10% next week (just need to lose 1 more pound) and another 3 to my 3rd silver seven.

    Loving Weightwatchers :p

Hi Barneylou... thanks for your reply... Ill definitely try the one on wednesday evening, it sounds quite good.

I think ill try a few of them, there is one or two meetings in kells,Navan,Oldcastle so am gonna maybe try them all and see which one I prefer, I certainly won't be joining Virginia! Though Im glad to see from your response that I am not the only one with a negative opinion of that particular leader!
