Depends on where you get them ;) For hi-res content many are DTS, particularly if it is an action or recent film.

    Thanx again lads.

@MediTank....would you happen to have a good source for hi-res movies? My 6 Meg Smart connection needs to be put to some use ;-)

Also, is there a way to stop the WD from down mixing any multi-channel streams into stereo?

    Cheers,
    M

Just use the optical out set to raw mode (or equivalent).

the divco 3300 does not support mkv

its big brother does though - 6500 a = have one myself - its pricey though...I think they were on an Ibood offer a few days ago

Excellent player also plays iso and img files - ripped bluerays - full dts-hd pass through etc

Got one of these and it's been a pain in the neck.
No uPnP for a start so i had to get a hard drive as well.
The wifi support is rubbish (u have to buy a dongle and it's G not N compatible)
I've had whole folders of music dissappear completely off the internal hdd twice!
and i've only had it about a month.
It does play all sorts of movies though.
Overall for the price I am not impressed and beginning to think about sticking it on ebay.

Have had the m5000u for a few years, works well but the lack of upnp support is annoying, also the FTP client access, instead of network share.
but if you keep the firmware recent i've never found much it can't play..

they are the most common format for high def video files it is a high quality rip but same in size like avi's are normally 700 meg where as a dvd is around 4.7 gig
