You are 100% right. everyone is entitles to their opinion... its just a pity that when the su trys to do something new that they meet this criticism.

It's part and parcel of democracy!

It's healthy and shows that people actually notice them, albeit not always for positive reasons.

i know im not the only one who has complained about this but its just that these people annoy me so much around campus.....yes you have guessed right its the student union class rep population that have really being grinding my gears lately......i hate the way they think there so cool and act all high and mighty around ul.....fine fair enough they deserve the positions they currently hold because the majority of them do put in a serious amount of effort into their respective roles...however can they please loose the attitude that they are Gods gift to the world and stop strutting about the place with their ridiculously inflated egos....rant over and good luck to every1 in the exams....

You must have a dodgy class rep, cos I can definitely say that this is not a representative attitude of most of the class reps I know. Fair enough I don't know ALL of them, but I do know quite a few.

The voting test system was actually put together by a member of staff. If you think it's juvenile, it was something non-offensive. We offered a number of ideas such as a general election poll or favourite food, but most students don't care about politics and we didn't want to be cluttering it up with numerous food options. It was simple and testable and, you'll all be glad to know, worked. There were 500 votes in the first 6 hours. I don't have the final tally as yet, but it is in.

crazykidd - are these guys mean/rude to you?
If not, just tune them out, there's plenty of fools about, but as long as they're not personally in my way/causing me grief, I really don't mind.

The only thing about the invigilators, is that some of them are really noisy in the exam centres

I was in the PE Hall yesterday, up near the front, and there was this lady who yawned so loudly, and would sigh like "Hmmmmmm", and clear her throat all the time.

    So annoying!

I couldn't find a thread for this so I said i'd stick it in here....

Do you have to go into the Admin office to get your grant?

Nope.. it should be lodged into your bank account! have you provided the college with proof of you receiving a grand and your bank account details?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,903 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

I went to the little window the other week and they did some stuff with the forms, is that it?

I asked because a friend in LIT had to actually go in to pick up the cheque, but I knew I had given in my bank details.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43 Toby_2010

well for my grant anyway i know i gotta take in a letter sent out from my county council that says im receiving a grant.. on showing this to someone in the SAA office (the one around the corner from the wii hatch) they stamp it or imput something into their system and then ya get the grant. iv got the first installment all ready

i cannot remember whether i had to send a stamped letter back to the county council... to be honest i think i did!! but im open for correction here!!

just check it out.. drop up to the office and ask them in there or just drop them an email. however it being exam week they will prob be very busy!!

UL is by far the most student friendly for grants, it's the only place you don't have to queue for the cheque! SAA aren't that bad after all eh!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,903 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

I handed the forms into the finance window, and with an exam a few minutes later I wasn't paying much attention but i think she photocopied them and whatever. Do I've to go back and hand them into the SAA now as well? Cos I queued up for the SAA the first time and she sent me to the little window which I never knew existed!

Anyone know when the 2nd and 3rd installment are supposed to arrive? I'm in second year now and last year's payments were all over the shop.

Just wondering if anyone knows the official time-frame? (I realise that I'd be very lucky to get it when it's due) just curious :)

I swear if I get another email from ULSU with text contained in PNG images I will go mental.

If they just type the damn email then everyone can read them, not just those who don't depend on accessibility software.

What about when they have to send it 3 times? Or the times the text is so hard to read on the coloured backgrounds?

    Good content though.

Haven't been in the lodge for a good while, just wondering is the student id card with the sticker on the back enough to be allowed in and how much does it cost to get in? Thanks

5 usually, isn't it? Haven't been there in over a year and hope that break continues for a looong time to come...

I don't go there often but pricewise it depends on whether it's before 12 or not iirc.

I left UL in 1999 a Comp Sys grad, I still get a craving for those paddocks cube chips? Do they still have those....

Other than that daily life in UL could be a bitch but had a lot of good times there too ;-)
