    Good.

His actions were a joke. You cannot show that much investment in one fighter when you are the head of the company. It's basically stupid and shows publically that your ****ed now that your marquee fighter has been dropped on his ass.

I really don't think EliteXC has too much left in them, ProElite are 60million down right now. I find it hard to believe they will be able to fund that many more shows, or that anyone else will step in until ProElite folds.

You might have someone pick up the brand and refinance after that.

    Maybe.

But they will also most likely fire Shaw.

The company is being very badly run, but still could pull through, although I wouldnt bet on it. Re-financing in the current climate is not an option

If ProElite do finally fold and the EliteXC brand ends up for sale, along with the video libraries and transferable fighter contracts i could almost see Affliction picking it up.

Just read the demographic breakdowns for the show and two things stand out. My god is Gina ever under paid and how different the audience this show drew is very different from UFCs.

    Official reply from Elitexc

    STATEMENT FROM JEREMY LAPPEN,
    HEAD OF FIGHT OPERATIONS, ELITEXC

"Press reports that EliteXC suggested or paid money to heavyweight fighter Seth Petruzelli to keep his fight against Kimbo Slice off the ground are false. Let me be perfectly clear with no ambiguity
    -- that did not happen.

"Seth Petruzelli was offered a fee to fight Kimbo Slice, plus a knockout bonus, a common practice throughout the industry. EliteXC organizes and promotes fights. We have not...do not...and will not suggest or dictate fighters’ strategies or tactics. How the fighters perform in the cage is at the sole discretion of the athletes involved.

"The circumstances leading up to the Petruzelli/Slice fight were unusual. Ken Shamrock was declared medically ineligible less than three hours before the fight. As an organization, we made a decision to serve the paying audience in the arena and the prime time audience at home by delivering on a Kimbo Slice fight, which we had promised. This was done simply and solely with a standard fee and bonus offer to Petruzelli and by increasing the purse to Slice. Elite XC is grateful to both Seth and Kimbo for taking this fight against an opponent they didn’t train for and on such short notice.

"In addition, reports that Frank Shamrock volunteered that evening to fight Kimbo Slice are true. Frank is a competitive fighter and he was willing to step up for his organization and the MMA fans. His offer was very greatly appreciated, but everyone in the room knew when he made the offer that it wasn’t a realistic possibility on such short notice.

"Despite all the craziness leading up to and in the aftermath of the event, the evening was a resounding success. The fights were diverse, impressive and entertaining, and I think the Seth/Kimbo fight speaks to the excitement and unpredictability of the sport. Great potential match-ups lie ahead for all the fighters involved that evening.

"And, the television ratings exceeded everyone’s expectations. In fact, the broadcast on CBS was the #1 entertainment and sports program of the night among the adults 18-34 and male 18-34 demographics, topping competing MLB Baseball Divisional games on TBS and college football games on both broadcast and cable. These ratings, and the intense discussion that has followed, speak volumes to the interest and future of this growing sport.''

They can talk all they want about the numbers that tuned in that night. They are not making enough money to stay afloat right now. Nor would they be able to do decent numbers on a PPV in my opinion.

IMO the ONLY fight they have that would sell a PPV is "Shamrock vs Shamrock". And even that fight will need a HUGE investment for promotion...and I personally would only be interested in the nostalgia seeing as Frank would whoop him.

Kim Couture Says Shaw Is A Pervert And Gina Carano Is Underpaid
    October 10th, 2008
    Posted by: Steve Barry

Steve Cofield of Yahoo! Sports and ESPN Radio 1100 interviews Kim Couture who was in attendance at the EliteXC “Heat” event in Gina Carano’s corner. She claims that Jared Shaw is a pervert and tried to sneak a peak during Carano’s embarrassing naked weigh-in. Big surprise, professionalism always seems to elude Shaw. She also says the reason why Gina only made $25,000 while Kimbo is making a half a mil is because she’s still on a very long contract. Hopefully, she can renegotiate because $25,000 is ridiculous for one of their top drawing stars.

I think frank even untrained and comin off an injury would have mauled kimbo.

After a tidal wave of criticism from MMA fans and media, the Florida State Boxing Commission has opened a preliminary investigation into Seth Petruzelli’s comments about his fight at EliteXC’s "Heat" last Saturday.

“We did decide that that was the best course of action in this case, although we still don’t have any reason to believe that there was any wrongdoing that occurred,” said Alexis Antonacci, press secretary for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. “But given the interest in the matter, we thought it would be best to just go ahead and open up an investigation and we’ll probably follow that up with a review.”

Antonacci sketched a basic plan of the investigation proceedings, which would take place in the next few weeks. The Department of Business and Professional Regulation will oversee the inquiry.

“It will just look at the facts of the fight, how it happened,” she continued. “They’ll do interviews. Just a basic investigation, really. Gathering of fact, finding of fact. Interviewing all those involved.”

Antonacci did not detail the exact scope of the investigation, nor give a timetable for its findings.

CBS didn't think that it was a good idea to have an announcer suddenly step in to fight and they were immediately against it

I can't wait to hear what Dana White says about this show.

    I got my wish:

    "Boxing scumbags!" :D

One thing you can say about Dana, he has no problems speaking his mind.

I saw Gary Shaw tonight at the Tarver vs Dawson fight, I don't like that guy at all. I know Dana is especially clued in on fixing fights, because if the UFC ever did it then the Fertitta brothers would lose their gaming licence and they'd be out of the casino business

Petruzelli was a bit stupid to speak so openly

tbh I agree with Dana 100%. Promoters should never be allowed to even suggest the gameplan that a fighter will go out with.

there has been pressure on guys in the UFC before to make their fights more exciting but I don't think that falls into the same bracket as they're not telling guys exactly what to do.

f4wonline.com said that if they offered Seth a KO bonus but no submission bonus, that's fine. But if they offered a bonus not to go to the ground, that would be illegal

They basically threaded the line very closely there...... i don't think they'll get punished for it but it seriously damages their reputation.

"She claims that Jared Shaw is a pervert and tried to sneak a peak during Carano’s embarrassing naked weigh-in."

Er..... exactly how does that make him a pervert ? ? ? ? The whole world tried to sneak a peak (vids / photos etc) and I'd be happy to be sitting front row centre if it happens again:D
