I wonder what has been the highest and lowest temperature so far this month?

Wonder no more Libre, for the highest temperature was 17.8c at Shannon on the 6th, while a chilly 1.0c was the lowest recorded to date at Dublin Airport, also on the 6th.

    Stats up to midnight 11th:
    Overall Mean: 10.4c (-0.1c)
    Overall Mean Max: 13.9c (+0.3c)
    Overall Mean Min: 6.9c (-0.5c)

Mean is expected to rise over the next few days with a possible leveling off towards the end of the working week. Will be interesting to see how the follow weeks pan out. :)

Interesting that we now are getting below average nights and above average days temperature wise. A complete opposite to what happened in August AFAIR.

Stats up to midinight 20th continues the theme of anomalously warm maxima and cooler minima.

    Overall Mean:
    Temp: 10.4c (-0.1c)
    Max: 13.9c (+0.4)
    Min: 6.9c (-0.5)

    Rainfall: 93.7mm (87.4%)
    Windspeed: 10.1 Knots (+0.2 Knots)

    5 Station Mean:
    Pressure: 1011.5 mb (-1.2 mb)
Wind Direction: 246 Degrees (West Southwest)

    Stats up to midnight 25th:

    Overall Mean:
    Overall Mean: 10.3c (-0.2)
    Overall Mean Max: 13.7c (+0.2)
    Overall Mean Min: 6.9c (-0.5)
Overall Mean Windspeed: 10 Knots (+1.0 Knot)

5 Station Mean: (Malin Head; Belmullet; Casement; Birr; Roaches Point)
    Pressure: 1011.6 mb (-0.9 mb)
Wind Direction: 242.4 Degrees (West Southwest)

While the Mean is still only slightly below average, what is interesing is that the October 08 mean has only reached the October 61-90 mean of 10.5c on one day so far this month (the 13th). Not once this month has the Overall Mean entered positive terrritory.

Even more extraordinary, the October mean this year is still almost a whole degree below average (-0.7c) for the 1st to 25th period.

And even more fascinating than that, that deviation figure is the highest (closest to normal) recorded of the month to date. If this figure falls over the next few days, there is a possibility that this month could finish around a whole degree below average.

We will see how it goes...;):)

Apart from Belmullet & Valentia, all stations are now in negative territory temp wise for October. Valentia mean temp is bang on average & Belmullet is just 0.1c in the positive.

One of the more interesting month's this year. :)

Final Mean finished at 9.4c, or in deviational speak, -1.1c below normal.

Not sure if anyone picked anything near this figure for the guess, but if you did, then well done!

Mean maxima and minima also finished below normal at most stations, and like september just gone, the coolest areas of the country (in absolute terms) was the southern half of Connacht and the northwestern half of Leinster running into south Ulster.

Rainfall above average again with the south and west bearing the brunt of October's offerings.

Highest temp of 17.8c on the 6th at Shannon, and lowest on the 28th when -3.0c chilled out the Casement area.

Cork airport's highest reading between the 24th and 27th was 13.9c.

Will do up a more detailed summary later in November thread with charts and stuff to bore the living ****e outta ye, but well done all who scored highly this month. :)
