Satellite loop looks ominous, that heavy rain over northern England/Southern Scotland has Ireland written all over it.

If anyone is out driving tonight take it easy.

The low centre appears to have stalled where it is though, interesting stuff.

Its pouring here in Kerry. Wind has picked up now, some gusts are quite strong. Judging by the latest satellites it will rain till morning! Flooding is likely on local roads.

A little off topic  but....Due to Ike's closeness to the Gulf stream off Florida, next weekend or beyond could be spectacular! What do ye think?

Raining again here, apparently they're pumping water from the M3 construction site near us and onto the surrounding land- it's a mess.

Calming down a bit now, probably half the rain today that we had in the floods late July, so guessing at 45mm or so.

Dry here at the moment - last rain recorded here at 4.30am which is coincidently exactly 24hrs since rain from this 'event' started.

    24 hour total (4.30am to 4.30am) = 56.7mm

    Still raining this morning.

Just been looking at met.ie and it appears as though Casement has now exceeded its normal annual total (annual mean - 711.2; this year to yesterday - 712.7).

53.3mm fell yesterday 00-24z with another 11.4mm since midnight.

Total for the year is 751.5mm
Total for this time last year was 491.2mm.

To put my stats in 'Snowbie' terms:

51.0mm fell yesterday 00-24z with another 9.3mm since midnight.

Yesterdays total was my largest daily total since I started recording (July '07).

72.0mm for September so far - well over the mean for September (for Casement) alraedy.

I had 58.2 mm yesterday and a further 11.9 so far today.
Just checked the manual rain guage Mothman lent me and am delighted to see that its measuring close to what my station is (station is under recording), will be interesting to see how it averages out over the next few weeks.

The Avonmore river was as high as I have ever seen it yesterday. Paddled accross Lough Dan after doing the Inchavore and then on to the Annamoe. Had to negotiate way through a forest at the top of the river. Paddled on to Laragh, Jacksons falls was huge!

Avonmore has been brown last few days, a sure sign of mad waters. Highest I've seen it in two years here yesterday.
