What's your rules on taking pint glasses from pub? We generally have a 3 pints to 1 glass rule, but this can vary depending on how many glasses you need and how much you plan to drink.

That reminds me, I'm running low on pint glasses. Must go to the pub...

I generall have a rule that involves buying them - they're not actually that expensive :D

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

stole a litre glass from a beergarden in munich, brought it home and now i drink everything from it, had orange juice out of it this morning with my breakfast, felt like a viking lord at the table!

Suppose it depends on how fancy the glass is and will it be missed? Trick is not to overdo it, in the same night, in the same place. Oh jebus no.

Its good to see a code of principles, regulations and quotas operating in the world of thievery. Personally I think to take any more than 20% of the church collection plate is outright unethical. and to be frowned upon.

Generally don't do it, unless its a really nice glass. Want to nab some of those Jameson branded glasses.

+1, I'm sure someone out there would pay a pretty penny for it if you threw it up on eBay.............not me. It's just a glass.

I have never actually knicked a glass from a pub, mainly due to my massive lazyness.

I remember a friend stealing shot glasses before, and hiding them in her handbag. A few of the shot glasses still had the remains of whatever was initially in them, which landed her with stickyass money and a ruined mobile phone screen.

My brother always manages to land a few nice ones, think he has some Kopperburg ones which are cool.

I just ask if I can take the glass home with me.
The staff in my local always say yes.
I'm a clumsy bastard and am always breaking them, so I tend to take a good few home.

Syndicate is such a strong word. I call it a "meeting of like-minded people"

When we lived in Dublin my missus was always at it. We had a nice little collection of pint glasses in the kitchen.

Since moving to Germany its been a bit harder, the glasses are huge and they won't fit in a handbag

Do we need to turn this one in to a poll? Those for and against?

    I think I've nabbed one.

Stay away from the pub one night and you'll have enough money to buy quite a few glasses.

I got one of those big ass frosted Smirnoff glasses from a club before. It was the first time I'd seen one and was so enthralled I took 2, incase one didnt work. I actually smashed one by accident on my way home but I still have the second one somewhere...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

I live next to 3 pubs, all my glasses are from the pub bar two. I'd often walk out of the pub with the glass, drinking from it. Go for a **** at home and return to the pub with pint glass. Sometimes I leave glasses outside my door so I can take them in when I finish up for the night.

I used to be really bad for stealing from pubs. The home house still has a number of stools, light fixtures, signs and ashtrays from pubs.

^ eh? How does a glass "not work"!? :D (I know if it's smashed and therefore cannot fulfill it's duty of retaining liquids. But to put it this way........)

Ok, that's impressive. How the hell did you manage to walk out with those?

Never stolen any, but I often find them outside pubs on my way home on greens and such, so I take them home.

Local pub got a rake load of jemmie glasses in, really fancy ones, we managed to get 8 out of 10. Gave them to my parents as a gift. Next day they were down the pub and saw the glass and said to the barman "there must be some promotional thing going on the jameson, my sone and his mates had lots of them last night".

Needless to say the barman wasn't impressed!

My rule is "Don't take what's not yours"

If I want a glass I'll ask for (and usually receive) it.

If I need several I will buy them.

I don't rob them very often, unless its a cool one.. I have about 2 Becks ones cos those are nice and one Kopparberg glass. Big handbags are indeed handy :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭shenanigans1982

I have not so much robbed them but taken them with me so I could finish what was in them. Also got a box full of pint glasses from the guy that owns the Cardiff Inn one time, probably as a form of defense but I jst ran with them.

Meh, don't really care about people lifting pint glasses from the bar, I mean i'll take the bar I work in as an example, we have about 10-20 boxes of glasses spare in the store. I would be annoyed if I saw someone walking out with one of the fancy glasses we stock like hot whiskey glasses or champagne glasses. :D

During the first week of college I'm going to be robbing plenty of pints and shot glasses, knives and forks, and loads of small packets of mayonaise!

Can remember partying so hard at this one bar on the beach, that when I stumbled out the door onto the sand, the bar tender just looked the other way while I carried my half full pint out the door. He probably felt that it was worth it, now that peace had been restored to his establishment.:pac::p

I have no idea, apparently me and my sister walked straight out the door of the local nightclub with a stool each, sat around outside for a while and then took them home. All the stuff came from that nightclub, they've gotten a professional bouncer crew in since.

A friend handed me an Erdinger glass outside of a pub we just left.
So I didn't really take it from the pub, he did, and now I have a cool glass that wont fit in the press.

My brother started collecting as many different glasses as he could, about a year ago iirc. Included Kopparberg, Erdinger, Harp, Bulmers and one or two more. One afternoon he looked at his shelf, saw a load of useless empty glasses, and realised the error of his ways!

That said, he does still have the big Erdinger and Kopparberg ones. Filled with, erm, pot-pouri... :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,813 ✭✭✭BaconZombie

I have a crate of the Erdinger sitting in my hall way, don't use then because they are a b!tch to clean....
