Check the link I've provided in this thread already. There are two threads in the link for MSISS in Trinity. It's meant to be tough, but a very good degree.
Question: Why didn't ye ask the students what they thought of the course when you were at the open days?

If you weren't at the open days, tough ****.

Yes, you're completely right. Because you didn't go along to one event, obviously you are doomed. Doomed I tells ya.

Or you might actually find that most people on this site are more then willing to help other people, and especially if they have questions relating to their own course. Cop on.

Hey man, Im hopefully going to be studying Physics in UCC next year. A good friend of mine is in his 4th year and he has already been approached by Tyndall to move to Barcelona to research phonons or something. Sounds pretty impressive.

not true whatsoever, certainly in the top 3 law schools in the republic imo

Here's a tip, as stupid as it may sound, but make sure you have an interest in the college course you want to do. Don't be like me and basically go eeney-meeney-miney-moe on the CAO. I ended up getting Computing in Software Development in GMIT and it took me 2 years to realise it just wasn't for me.

I know aloto f people who done IBL with Japaneese in DCU. THe business Part is easy enough, well in the scheme of things but they all found the japaneese very tough going. All just came out with a very basic grasp. Also you have to be willing to go to live and study in Japan for a year which again can be good be tough at the same time.

I done business in DCU & DIT so cant help you out on the UCD front. Any questions on the latter though and Id be happy to answer them!

multimedia courses don't contain much programming as you call it. they'd do markup languages like HTML and possibly do PHP at a stretch

I see, I thought Multimedia would contain a bit more programming content.
That course in IADT "Multimedia systems" or something has a good bit in it, but to be honest I dont like the look of almost half of it.
must be a great place If you are in anyway creative/interested in media/Arts.

Well I was hoping to do financial and actuarial studies in DCU. It's about 490 but I've kinda gone off it now and I havn't got a clue what i want to do now. I'm kinda considering repeating now. I'd probably be better off taking another year to find out what I actually want to do rather than doing some course I don't actually like. Ah well

Pretty sure its a four year course postgrad and its not that easy to get into, it very competitive at the other end too and you have to pay fees.

Only found out about it recently off one of the nurses so I could have got it wrong, there was some presentation in Connolly Hospital about a new post-grad being 3years long, the requirement was at least a 2.1 and that there's only a small number of places... Sounded good

anyone doing media studies in maynooth? Im planning on doing that course and combining it with irish and spanish (beginner spanish because you can't combine french with media). I really want to do anthropology aswell but it's timetabled at the same time as Irish and I think with what I want to do, Irish is alot more useful!
Anyone with any info on these courses?! Or media arts in DIT or audiovisual media in ITT. They're my first three anyway so I'd be very grateful for any info!

I know a few people who did media in NUIM, they were luke warm to it. I don't know what you are expecting from it, but it wasn't the same as most people were expecting. A lot more theory for a start. Irish is only useful if you are going to work for tg4, which while a nice thought, it isn't exactly a large market otherwise.

Interesting... Tbh, I haven't heard anything about The Liberties college before your post.

I would recommend you to go to an official PLC college where portfolio preparation is taught. The whole process of applying and getting in is quite straightforward. The plus side is, that you'll get an industry-recognised qualification at the end, that could also boost your chances of getting into a third level art/design/architecture course.

A bigger plus is a PLC graphic design course with work placement module. It would be great to try some real design work, especailly before college, just to see whether you'd be fit for it.
