Right, well i changed the fuse in the plug and then i plugged it in and turned it on, the power light flashed on for a second and then went off, i turned it off and back on then nothing

there was a 3 amp fuse in the plug before but i changed it to a 13 amp

ill change the plug next and see if anything happens, if not then a new power supply

My action replay acts as a convertor so I could play the U.S. Snes games.
I really regret selling Super Mario All stars to Cash Convertors ten years ago when I was a broke teenager...sigh.

Most but not all of them unfortunately. I found that out when I imported a copy of Final Fight Guy :(

Isnt it funny the amount of money we payed for these games? In xmas 1992 I already had my snes with Super Mario world. All the pal carts of street fighter 2 were sold out, you could only buy it packaged with a new snes. So I payed one hundred and twenty pounds for an import version and a convertor from a small local game shop, its a porn shop now.lol!

Point is we can play the arcade version of street fighter three third strike via emulation now and all the snes games we want for free! Maybe in twenty years time will can download Halo 3 and street fighter IV from the internet!

Jesus! That's a lot of money. The most I can remember spending was £45 on new megadrive games. (Usually strictly Christmas and Birthdays)

Actually one time I won a raffle in a pub as a kid. Ran to Quinnsworth to buy a game with my newly aquired riches. Got a great deal on Quack Shot. £29.99.

It's also crazy how much we take it all for granted. I can remember being blown away when I first saw an old brick Gameboy running Mario. Now I can fit absolutely every gameboy game ever made on a micro SD card the same size as a finger nail and still have gigabytes to spare.

    wtf?!

I'd be interested in a few of those as well and would probably give you a much better price than those shops.

If it's old GBA carts you're after, Gamestop in Santry have a massive range of good stuff in a large cardboard box under the counter.
I got Super Street Fighter II, Chu Chu with Sonic and Pacman collection there not so long ago.

Thanks for that, its rare that I'm out in Santry, but if I am I'll check it out!

Seriously.... this is an arcade and retro forum. Try adverts.ie or the computer forum and have a read of the charter before posting again.

    Thanks,

    :p
thats talking crap! hardly realistic. 18e for xbox360 games isnt inflated and i know they are not retro but maybe as the shop has more business prices of the retro stuff will come down. opening like that would have high costs.

i guess i can see where he is coming from since i have recently started my own business and costs can go through the roof.

and i think a small shop like that is called a kiosk.
TBH the way your talking all through the thread it looks like it is your shop

Well the shops been gone for a few months now so it doesn't really matter

I know this is an "old" thread :)

Well the shops been gone for a few months now so it doesn't really matter

Is this the Moore St Mall kisosk that's gone ?

What's this Cash Converters like ? I've seen on in Glasgow with some retro games (Nes, Sega MegaDrive etc.) but not the most attractive prices :/ . I'd fancy giving CC a look in but I dislike their business model .

How about this Games Exchange place ? The reviews here sound bad (€16 for an N64 game ? wtf?!!!) but I passed there the other day by chance and was curious.

I just want to get some Playstation (1) games and some Mega Drive or N64 titles. Nothing extra rare but a few of the hits so I don't have to use evil-bay.

AFAIK the Kiosk is long gone. Not too sure about Cash Converters, been in there once or twice and saw some cheap PS2 games, nothing retro. There's another Cash Converters up by Vicar Street I think but it's too far for me and I don't know the bus, although the Luas goes up somewhere by there. Game Exchange is expensive. Every now and again they get in some decent PSone games but they're usually 20 euro at the least and if it's a good game it will be 25+

I didn't mind paying at first but then I saw Ebay and it was so much cheaper, haven't been in there since.

Oh dear, €250 for a NES is insane. I'll buy it off my mate instead.

Noooooooo. Dammit. You mean they are worth money.

I just threw a heap of old stuff. Collecovision and games. ZX Spectrum and games. Spectrum +3. Megadrive and games.

I even threw out my old NES and about 50 games in their boxes too. It was in the box, perfect condition. Box was like new and the games were all like new. It was in the attic in my parents which i had to clean out. I figured it might as well go in the bin after one last game as id never play it again and my nephew laughed at me when i offered to give them to him.

Cash Converters can be very hit and miss. Their stock seems to change all the time. The most "retro" thing i've seen in there are GC games, Xbox games and Xbox consoles. Some of the stuff can be a little bit pricey like €40 for an Xbox, but you can get some bargains. I got the XBLA Compilation disc for 9.99. Game Exchange is a bit expensive for my liking, but if theres something you really need (eg controllers, cables etc..) and you dont buy online, give it a try.

    @ bobbbb, why couldn't I be your nephew :(

That Games Exchange shop on Talbot St is unbelievable
I was in there today .
    • €15 for Playstation 1 games
    • €15 for (some) Playstation 2 Games
    • €15 for Mega Drive Games
    • €15 for N64 Games

Now you might think 15quid for PS2 games is ok but these games nearly all had Game or Gamestop stickers on them with lower prices. Like some had €10 Gamestop barcode stickers and this guy's looking for 15
Did he just go to Gamestop and pick up some cheap games to sell on at double the price ?

    Crazy.

He also had a load of Saturn games but I didn't check them cause I ain't got a Saturn.

Also, there was some junkie-type a fella who wandered in with an Xbox in a shopping bag. The fella at the desk asked him 3 times was it the old one or a 360 to which yer man mumbles "yeah
    boss
    it's that one
    it works n all----"
So it was the original Xbox of course! Then the shop fella says it takes an hour to check it over that it works and says he'll give him 15cash. Cue junkie-type-fella mumbling "yeah..... Ill be back to ye buuuuuuuddy.... i will... i swear.... i just have to go to see something".

But seriously, 15Euro for a PSone game
I'd maybe give a tener. Don't ye know as well that the games are probably scratched and if you tried to return them you'd be shown the door!
