There's a bit of controversy in the antipodean press about a photo of Cpl Willie Apiata VC published yesterday by the New Zealand Herald.

was reading about this just this afternoon, interesting story highlights the interesting relationship between the miltary and modern publicity hungry culture that seems to drive government at times

The British SAS and US specials – whatever they're called this week – have been wearing it for a while, as you probably knew. Now we know that the Kiwi SAS are wearing it too... I didn't even know they were out there. The Aussie SASR are wearing their own gear, at least in all the published photos.

It's a reasonable guess that if the SAS thought it worked well – and they can wear what they want – they'd recommend it to the brasshats and so Dstl (such odd capitalisation!) went to Crye and asked for their own version and hey presto, MTP. The more I see of it, the more it looks like Multi with brushstrokes. The dark brown is the most obvious change, but there may be other subtle ones too. We really need to see better, and much bigger, and properly colour-corrected photos. The first issue is in March, so we'll probably have to wait until then.

I read up on the testing, which was very thorough. I expect MTP will be both effective and popular. The Yanks will be livid.

fierce controversy over the acr on arnies:P
i get the advantages of a v3 over a v2, but surely its not so bad it would stop you from buying a bloody v2
then again, we stil dont fully know what the thing is like, just have to wait some more
    then some more most likley

    Absofeckinlutely.

It's on my shopping list. Maybe next year. But definitely with an EGLM, even though they're next to useless under the 1JR.

The guy on the left is actually the chap who first told us about the F2000 in Germany last march, Cant wait to get my hands on one of these things.
I wonder if they dook any inspiration from the JLS offering though? The motor would appear to be in the same spot and similarly, its visible on the JLS too. :)
