    Fáilte Towers :D:D

I wonder what caliber of "celebrity" will be staffing the hotel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,379 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Fáilte Towers is a hotel run entirely by celebrities and this is your one chance to stay in Ireland's only 12-star hotel.

Oh dear god... With wit like that, the show will be amazing...

All fake reality TV is a terrible idea. It doesn't get much farther from reality than some solicitor* that nobody has ever heard of, or cares about, or Twink**, serving breakfast and bringing bags to your hotel room.

I despise having to pay 160 euro a year for crap like this, though I take solace in the fact that I can't even receive the channels anyway, so no chance I'll accidentally catch any of it.

    * Guessing about the caliber of celebrity that will be used.
** You just know Twink will make an appearance.

Filling it with feuding Limerick families might make it all worth it.

It's not that it's crap but rather RTE can only think of this rubbish after the British channels have done something similar.
There was some TV3 boss complaining about RTE's lack of originality in one of today's newspapers.
RTE are a joke - they even have two young male presenters together on a kids TV show - Ant and Dec clones?

Are you ****ing serious? To have two male presenters is copying Ant and Dec?

    Of course it is...

I've always thought of John Giles and Eamon Dunphy as a Oirish Ant & Dec! ;)

The show, presented by RTÉ's Aidan Power and Baz Ashmawy, will see 13 celebrities battling for their respective charities to run a real, fully-functioning hotel.

The 13 "celebrities" are: weather presenter Evelyn Cusack, 'The Apprentice' star Jennifer Maguire, model Claire Tully, former All-Ireland medal winner and match analyst Séan Ó Dómhnaill, politician Patricia McKenna, former Eurovision stars Donna and Joseph McCaul, singer Luke Thomas, broadcaster John Creedon, former 'Big Brother' star and television presenter Brian Dowling, 'You're a Star' judge Michelle Heaton, television presenter Liz O'Kane and singer and actor Don Baker.

The voting public and a panel of expert judges, that includes former presenter and hotelier Bibi Baskin, Sammy Leslie of the renowned Castle Leslie, and Michelin-starred chef Derry Clarke will decide who stays and who pack their bags.

The show begins on Saturday, 2 August and will run for 16 days and 16 nights.

Any chance we can vote them all off the first week and that'll be the end of it... What a waste of TV license money...

Someone throw her out and ban her from Ireland please

Ah now, surely you've heard of Donna & Joe?? If you haven't.........I envy you.

You'll probably recognise Evelyn Cusack, the weather forecaster.

They dont want her in the UK... so she comes here for jobs cause she's desperate.

I have no idea who any of those people are.

Here's a 30 second clip guaranteed to be more entertaining than the entire series, and the clip isn't even that good.

I totally will be watching though.

    "Celebrities"
    ^
I love the way we all do that when talking about Irish "celebrities" :D

Thanks for the warning about that show, I will avoid RTE now!!

    Sweet God above in Heaven.

Bunch of nonentities plucked from obscurity, failed careers, and the backwoods of showbiz.
What a load of absolute rubbish.

I like the promo, which suggests something quick, witty and amusing.

I wonder can RTE be done under the Trade Descriptions Act? :p

I fully it expect it to be typical RTE amature-ish rubbish, and for that reason alone I will watch it. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,183 ✭✭✭Peared

K this is a tragic request but does anybody know if this will be repeated in any form?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

Ireland has no "celebrities". Anybody with any form of talent goes to London and doesn't look back.

Castle Bellingham in Louth/Meath Which if its part owned by BiBi Baskin, surely means a conflict of interest since she's RTE anyway

Patricia McKenna, while always seeming a few fries off a happy meal to me, is one of the more decent politicians in Ireland. When the Greens lost a bit of colour she stood by her politics and I thought she was fantastic during the Lisbon debates. This stinks of 'Oh no! people might actually prefer that feckin' Shinner. I better go on the telly' to me. Terrible move on her part.

John Creedon is a bloke I have quite a bit of time for, love his radio show and he''s just easy to like in general. Surprised he went on it too to be perfectly honest.

As for the two boscos from eurovision

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

That presenter (Baz?) was trying WAY too hard to be funny.

As for the show, it seemed like any other RTE 'reality' show that they ran on consecutive days, just a different location.

Anyone think that Brian Dowling looked a bit... er.... orange?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,660 ✭✭✭magnumlady

That Baz fella was a dreadful presenter, apart from that I liked it!

This is one of the most serious ever escapes of sewerage from RTE.

Thank Christ that they didn't put the ultimate layer of bacteria on it and make the programme in Irish. Maybe that will be the next "celebrity" programme.

People here comment on what they say and feel, and aren't aware of personal circumstances of contestants.Internet forums are not for sensitive celebrities people. Like I'm the real Pat Kenny and the things people have said about me here have made me have tears of sap.
