There are a few pairs of storchs at the Mundenhof. They are returning every year for breeding. They have no problems to find enough food but for the visitors they get fed fish in buckets every afternoon. :)

So i cropped the pictures as red buckets are not so interesting. At least i got the right moment. :p

    Wow!

    Nice shots!

I went to Amsterdam in late March, not a birdwatching trip but I did take my binocs and camera, and it surprised me that nearly in every park there were nesting sites (plattforms 10m/20m high) for storks. That was the beginning of the nesting season so all of them were taken.

Also, the amount if sites managed for wildlife was impressive, all of them with observation points, information, etc. If you find the right fare, you can make a very good one day birding trip flying early from Dublin to Amsterdam, 5mins on the train to Amsterdam Zuid (not Centraal, but Zuid) and spend the whole day in Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Woods) which is nearly next to the airport.

All shots are from the vineyards on top of the Tuniberg. The first shows the village of Ihringen. Well known for it´s wines and being one of the warmest spots in the whole of Germany at the Kaiserstuhl.

The grapes are very sweet this year and because of the sun the last weeks with temperatures up to 36°C and nearly no rain there are very few foul ones in between. The Oechsle degrees are extremly high. This harvest will have a quite high quality. :)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oechsle_scale

Can´t wait to test it. :p

Two or three months ago – I was walking along the Dodder and I saw this perfectly good, new and expensive looking bike just leaning, unlocked, against a tree.

Of course the following day it was in the middle of the River.

Sad to think about the mentality that thinks it’s fun to throw bikes ( along with shopping trolleys etc) into a river- but at least this Kingfisher found a use for the handlebars!

These lads were having a turf war and were over 70 meters away from me at the time. Looking through some of the out of focus shots I discovered in one a kingfisher flying through the reeds at the same time.

The buzzard was shot from my garden, circling above. The moon was my first aim until the buzzard showed up. The doves are more or less living around my little village in sw Germany. Usually in pairs  and never more than 80m apart. The tit was just sitting at the village well.

It´s nice to have all these fellows around presenting themselves. You just have to wait… :D

    Gull

This guy looked out of place today all on its own on the Dodder beside the Dropping Well

He was shooed away by the local Heron but was back five minutes later- seemed happier in the water than the air?

    44381482884_55398ac4dd_b.jpgGull

    Is it a common gull?

Thanks Srameen - I really should have known that from my visits to Bushy Park - but this one seemed so 'alone'

    Added later

Maybe his satnav was faulty and he stopped a mile short of the pond in Bushy Park?

Common gulls are actually not too common.

Most of the gulls seen in parks are either herring (larger, grey back, pink legs) or black headed (smaller, like in the picture). You may get lesser black back too (similar size to the herring but yellow legs and black back).
